About Tigerair Mandala

 Mandala Airlines is a low-cost airline headquartered in Jakarta, Indonesia and is an associate company of the Singapore-based Tiger Airways Group. The former full service airline repositioned itself as a budget airline following a year-long grounding in 2011 caused by debt woes. Mandala resumed operations in April 2012 following an injection of fresh capital by Indonesian conglomerate Saratoga Investment Corp which took over 51% of the airline, with partner Tiger Airways taking up 33.3% and the rest by creditors.

As a partner airline of Tiger Airways, Mandala shares Tiger's sales, distribution and marketing channels to tap into Tiger's wider network across Southeast Asia, Australia, China and India. More recently, the airline has also offered single joint itineraries in collaboration with long-haul low-cost carrier Scoot through its hub at Singapore Changi Airport. Mandala's fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft fly primarily within the more populous regions of Java and Sumatra, providing domestic and regional international connections of no more than five hours. It plans to increase its fleet to 15 aircraft by end 2012 and to 25 by 2015.

In January 2009, Mandala Airlines completed the phasing out of its older Boeing aircraft, replacing them with newer Airbuses. On April 20, 2009, Mandala moved its Jakarta operations to the new Terminal 3 of the Soekarno-
Hatta International Airport.[13] Macau and Singapore. These services started on June 25, 2010. In April 2010, Mandala Airlines announced international services to Hong Kong,Macau and Singapore. These services started on June 25, 2010.

Mandala resumed operations on Thursday 5 April 2012, with one domestic route between its home base Jakarta and Medan, the capital of North Sumatra. This will be followed by its first international destination when it launches the Medan-Singapore route on 20 April 2012,[24]Singapore network after Jakarta. From May, Mandala will also fly twice daily to Malaysia's capital Kuala Lumpur from Jakarta.[25] were offered a complimentary travel voucher redeemable through the company's new Tiger-based website. adding a second Indonesian destination to Tiger's  Passengers holding on to Mandala tickets for flights after the company ceased operations in 2011 were offered a complimentary travel voucher redeemable through the company's new Tiger-based website.

Mandala Airlines adopts the same low-frills concept of Tiger Airways by offering a single class service on all its 180-seat Airbus A320 aircraft. There is a buy-on-board food and beverage service but no in-flight entertainment is offered, except for the in-flight magazine. Preferred seats can be reserved online during the booking process, otherwise they are allocated during airport check-in. Other ancillary services offered to passengers include Tiger's priority boarding "board-me-first".

Under the old Mandala Priority Privileges programme, the airline offered a baggage allowance of 20 kg (44 lb) per passenger, with an extra 5 kg (11 lb) for priority passengers. Priority passengers also benefited from choice seats at the front of the aircraft, free airport lounge access and free food and beverages in both lounges and in-flight.

Baggage Allowance of Tigerair Mandala

Passengers are allowed 2 pieces of carry-on luggage provided that each item does not exceed the dimensions of 54 cm x 38 cm x 23 cm, with a combined weight of 10kg.

Passengers are offered the choice to save if they choose to travel with hand luggage only. Passengers who need to check baggage in have the option of selecting a Luggage Upsize™ option to suit their needs at the time of making their reservation. A corresponding fee will be charged per passenger per one way flight. This excludes, but is not limited to items such as sporting equipment.

Any sporting equipment, including but not limited to golf clubs, skis, surfboards, bicycles and musical instruments will be accepted for travel on a space available basis and is charged at a rate of S$35 or A$60 (or local currency equivalent) per item, per flight. Such items are accepted for carriage by Tiger Airways entirely at the passenger's own risk.

Bicycles - the bicycle must be packed in a bicycle box or bag, only one cycle per box or bag will be permitted, the tyres must be deflated, the handlebars must be flush with the frame and the pedals removed or flush with the frame.

Firearms and ammunition are not accepted for carriage.

Instruments to be carried as cabin baggage must not exceed the dimensions of 30 x 117 x 38 cm. Instruments within this category include but is not limited to bugle, clarinet, flute, piccolo, guitars in soft cases, trumpet, violin or viola and will form part of your free cabin baggage allowance. Such items are accepted for carriage by Tiger Airways entirely at the passenger's own risk.

Any instrument exceeding the above dimensions must be checked into the hold.

The carriage of live animals, including pets, insects, reptiles or any other form of livestock, both in the aircraft hold and cabin is strictly forbidden under any circumstances.

Passengers are required to show their booking confirmation, valid passport (for international flights) or photo ID (for domestic flights), with any necessary visas at check-in. Please note that failure to produce any of the above documents may result to immigration authorities refusing travel.

Check -in 2 (two) hours prior to scheduled departure.

Check-in counters strictly close 45 minutes prior to scheduled departure time. For all flights departing Colombo, Dhaka and India only, check-in opens 3 hours prior to departure and closes 1 hour before departure.

Any passenger not having completed check-in formalities and be in receipt of a boarding card within the above timeline will forfeit their seat and no compensation will be given.

Passengers with special requirements (e.g. bicycle to check-in) or have special needs are advised to check-in 2 (two) hours prior to departure and make themselves known at the designated check-in counters.
