🔍 History of Indonesian Independence

Indonesia's independence is celebrated every August 17 and is designated as a national holiday every year. The journey to Indonesia's independence day went through various important events, such as the surrender of Japan to the Allies on August 15, 1945 and the Rengasdengklok Incident, where a number of youths urged Soekarno and Hatta to proclaim Indonesia's independence. These events provided the opportunity to proclaim independence on August 17, 1945.

After the Rengasdengklok incident on August 16, 1945, Soekarno and Hatta began drafting the text of the proclamation at the residence of the Japanese high-ranking officer, Admiral Maeda. On August 17, 1945 at 10:00 am, Soekarno and Hatta proclaimed Indonesia as a nation free from colonialism. The location of the reading of the proclamation text was at Jalan Pegangsaan Timur No. 56, Jakarta, which was Soekarno's residence. On Friday, August 17, 1945, Indonesia was declared an independent country.

Indonesia's independence day, August 17, is now celebrated every year with ceremonies, parades, and various activities that illustrate the spirit of nationalism and respect for the heroes who have fought for the freedom of the nation.
