Bangkok Airways Features
Bangkok Airways Public Company Limited, or commonly called Bangkok Airways, is a regional airline based in Bangkok, precisely at Suvarnabhumi Airport, Thailand. The airline operates scheduled services to various destinations in Thailand, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Singapore, and Vietnam.
Mr. Prasert Prasarttong-Osoth founded Bangkok Airways in 1968 as a department in a company called Krungthep Sahakol Company Limited. In 1984, Prasarttong-Osoth founded Sahakol Air to take over the airline business, which had been operated by Krungthep Sahakol since its inception. The name of the airline was later changed to "Bangkok Airways."
In 1986, Bangkok Airways began operating scheduled flight services. On January 20, 1986, Bangkok Airways began operating scheduled flight services serving the Bangkok - Nakhon Ratchasima, Bangkok - Surin, and Bangkok - Krabi routes, using the BANDEIRANTE EMB-110 fleet with a capacity 18 chairs.
In 1989, the company built its first airport, which is located on Koh Samui and became an international tourist destination. Operations at Samui Airport begin when Bangkok Airways obtains the International Air Transport Association (IATA) code "PG" and is given permission to operate flights on the Bangkok - Koh Samui route. In 1992, a 107-seat Fokker-100 jet was introduced into the fleet. Two years later, when joining the IATA Clearing House, its fleet expanded with two additional ATR72 aircraft.
In 2002 the company raised its safety standards, obtained an IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA), and was certified as IATA's full membership. On April 9, 2007, Bangkok Airways was honored to receive the Garuda Emblem, a royal warrant given to companies that perform exceptional services for the country. The award is the company's biggest pride and the best motivation for employees. On February 27, 2013, Bangkok Airways was listed on the Thailand Stock Exchange (SET) and was listed as "Bangkok Airways Public Company Limited" or "BA." then, in 2017 Bangkok Airways received the latest Air Operator Certificate, recertified for safety standards set by ICAO, from the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand.
