Founded in 1947, Copa Airlines, formerly known as Compañía Panaa de Aviación, is the national airline of Panama. Copa Airlines commenced flights to three cities in Panama using Douglas DC-3 / C47 aircraft. In 1966, the airline had international flights to San José, Costa Rica.
Headquartered in Panama City, Panama, with its central hub at Tocumen International Airport, the airline is a subsidiary of Copa Holdings, S.A., and members of the Star Alliance. Copa formed a partnership with Continental Airlines in 1998.
Currently, Copa Airlines has a mobile app available for Android and iOS systems and an official website available in Spanish, English, and Portuguese. The airline's total flight routes are 75 destinations in 31 countries.

- Economy Class and Business Class
- 1 (one) carry-on baggage with a maximum weight of 10 kg and dimensions not exceeding 46 linear inches (118 cm): 22 inches (56 cm) high + 14 inches (36 cm) long + 10 inches (26 cm) wide. Linear dimensions do not include luggage wheels.
- In addition to the main cabin baggage allowance, you can bring 1 (one) laptop bag or 1 (one) small bag.
- Each item can measure up to 36 linear inches (90 cm): 17 inches (43 cm) high + 10 inches (25 cm) long + 9 inches (22 cm) wide.
- If the carry-on baggage or personal items exceed the permitted dimensions, they will be carried in the baggage compartment of the aircraft as checked baggage. All applicable excess baggage charges will apply.

Public policy
- Every passenger must occupy the seat which is determined during check-in.
- Carry-on baggage must be put in luggage compartment or below the passenger’s seat.
- Cellphones and any electrical devices must be switched off or altered to flight mode, especially during take-off and landing.
- Please tighten your seatbelt, fold the table, put your seat upright, and open the window during take-off and landing.
- It is against the law and strictly prohibited to smoke anywhere in the aircraft during the flight.
Expectant Mother Policy
- Passengers with a gestational age of less than 30 weeks may travel without medical approval.
- Passengers with a pregnancy of more than 30 weeks must sign a Liability Waiver Form, exempting the airline from any setbacks or occurrences related to their condition.
- Must show a health certificate from a personal doctor stating gestational age at check-in.
- A travel certificate or health certificate must be issued by a doctor no earlier than 72 hours before the date of travel.
- For flights departing from Colombia, all pregnant women who are seven months or more pregnant will be required to present a medical certificate issued no earlier than 12 hours before travel.
- Passengers who show physical signs that labor has begun will be refused to join the flight.
Specific Medical Condition Policy
- To travel, passengers must have a medical certificate issued by a personal doctor and certify that they can complete a scheduled flight without requiring medical assistance during the flight.
- Certificates must be issued up to 10 days before international flights and domestic flights within Panama and 12 hours for domestic and international flights originating from Colombia.
- If the passenger has to travel while suffering from an infectious disease, the certificate must state that the disease cannot be transmitted to other passengers during the flight.
- Passengers with special needs, either temporary or permanent or who have a history of limitations, are asked to contact the airline directly if they need special assistance.
- Passengers who are visually or hearing impaired but can communicate are allowed to fly alone without an assistant.
- Use of assistive devices will be permitted provided they comply with the hand luggage requirements and will not count as extra baggage.
- Wheelchairs are considered a "priority device" before baggage and other cargo.
- Passengers with mental disorders who are hospitalized must travel with a certified assistant during the journey.
- Assistants must show credentials from their workplace, including an authorization signature.
- Medical certification must be issued up to 12 hours before flight departure.
- Passengers with mental disorders must sit in a window seat, and an assistant will sit next to them.
- Passengers and assistants must make a confirmed reservation leading to their final destination. Reservations must be made with a minimum of 24 hours of anticipation.
- To ensure the safety of all passengers, including those with special needs, some passengers need to travel with an escort. Situations that are required escorts are:
- Passengers with mental disabilities who are unable to understand and respond to crew safety procedures.
- Passengers with severe impairment to move or assist themselves in an emergency evacuation.
- Passengers with hearing and vision impairments cannot establish a means of communication with ground staff and crew.
- Passengers who are unable to meet their own physiological needs.
- It is important to remember that the companion must locate all of the passenger's special and medical needs. The companion must be over 18 years of age.
- Cabin crew will provide assistance to passengers with special needs in the following situations:
- Going to and leaving their seat during boarding and deplaning.
- Going to the bathroom and returning to their seat while on the airplane.
- Loading and unloading carry-on luggage and any orthopedic equipment stored in the airplane.
- During food preparation, including opening packages and identifying items.
- Our cabin crew cannot help with any medical services, in the bathroom, with meals or feeding as such.
Infants and Children Policy
- You can travel with babies once they are 7 days old.
- Children aged 0 - 23 months are considered infants, and they must always travel accompanied by an adult. A child aged 0 - 23 months does not occupy a seat.
- If child passengers wish to use a seat during the flight, they must purchase a ticket at the applicable fare on the desired route.
- Airlines do not accept:
- Newborns under 7 days.
- Babies who need an incubator.
Unaccompanied Minors
- Copa Airlines offers services for children between the ages of 5 and 14 who are traveling unaccompanied.
- The unaccompanied minor service does not include in-flight service. Services begin at the check-in desk, including the transfer of minors through security and immigration for departure to the boarding gate and on board seats. Upon arrival at the final destination, the minor is accompanied from the aircraft through immigration and customs, where the minor is handed over to a responsible adult.
- Each flight can only accept a maximum of 25 unaccompanied minors, be sure to request service at least 48 hours before flight departure or at the time of booking through Copa Airlines Sales Office and Reservation Center.
- Condition Age to travel
- Passengers under 5 years old must be accompanied by a relative, guardian, or designated travel companion who is at least 18 years old.
- Passengers aged between 5 - 7 years can travel alone on direct flights.
- Passengers aged between 8 - 14 years old can travel alone on direct flights and connecting flights operated by the same airline.
- Passengers aged between 15 - 17 can travel alone on direct and connecting flights operated by the same airline or flights between lines.
- They are considered young travelers, and unaccompanied minor service is optional. If requested, fees and conditions will apply.
- Copa Airlines does not offer or accept unaccompanied minors connecting to/from other airlines.
Important notes:
Please arrive at the departure terminal at least 90 minutes before take-off for domestic flights and at least 2 hours for international flights.
Check-in counter would be closed 45 minutes before take-off.
