Firefly Features
Firefly is a Malaysian airline that operates in Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand. The airline is a subsidiary of Malaysia Airlines and has its head office in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. Firefly is based primarily at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang and has a secondary hub at Penang International Airport. The airline's first flight was on 3 April 2007, from Penang to Kota Bharu.
Firefly is a low-cost carrier or Low-Cost Carrier (LCC). Unlike LCC in general, Firefly focuses on regional routes in the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) region. This is because Firefly is positioned as a community airline that targets consumers in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Singapore with relatively cheap ticket prices. Even though the status is a subsidiary, Firefly and Malaysia Airlines are operated by different management.
Thanks to his persistence, Firefly led by Ignatius Ong won many awards. In 2010, Firefly was awarded the Value Airline of the Year award by Frost & Sullivan. In 2012, The Putra Brand Award awarded Firefly as "The Most Promising Brand of the Year."
Firefly Flight Class
Even though Firefly has an LCC status, the airline still provides adequate facilities for its passengers, such as free checked baggage allowance up to 20 kg and a wide selection of delicious food and beverage menus that can be purchased during flights. Then, starting November 2014, Firefly collaborated with Circle K Malaysia in presenting fast food that can be purchased at the airport.

Cabin Baggage
- 1 (one) cabin baggage maximum 7 (seven) kg.
- Luggage dimensions do not exceed 56 cm x 36 cm x 23 cm.
Checked Baggage
- 1 (one) checked baggage maximum 20 kg.
- Passengers can purchase additional checked baggage of 5 kg, 10 kg & 15 kg.

Public policy
- Every passenger must occupy the seat which is determined during check-in.
- Carry-on baggage must be put in luggage compartment or below the passenger’s seat.
- Cellphones and any electrical devices must be switched off or alter to flight mode, especially during take off and landing.
- Please tighten your seatbelt, fold the table, put your seat upright, and open the window during take off and landing.
- It is against the law and strictly prohibited to smoke anywhere in the aircraft during the flight.
Expectant Mother Policy
- Pregnancy less than 36 weeks:
- Mandatory to declare their pregnancy and complete and sign the Release and Indemnity Form.
- Pregnancy more than 36 weeks:
- Not allowed to join the flight.
Specific Medical Condition Policy
- Passengers with certain illnesses or medical conditions are allowed on board.
- Passengers with disabilities must inform Firefly about their condition and special needs up to 48 hours before departure. Passengers must also provide a medical certificate stating that the passenger is healthy enough to take part in the flight.
- Firefly reserves the right to refuse passengers whose health is inadequate and may pose a danger to other passengers (e.g., having a chronic or infectious disease).
- Passengers with special needs must fly with a companion to assist them and prevent them from risking security or safety during the flight.
- Firefly can provide special assistance for passengers with disabilities, and additional fees may apply.
Infants and Children Policy
- An adult passenger must accompany children under the age of 12 over 18 on the flight.
- Strollers or strollers are prohibited in the aircraft cabin.
- Infants are allowed to board the flight as long as they are in the lap of an adult passenger. Maximum one baby for one adult.
- Both infants and children aged 9 (nine) days - 2 (two) years will be charged a special rate.
- Infants under the age of 8 (eight) days are not allowed to take part in the flight unless accompanied by an official written letter from a doctor and after the baby's parents have signed a Statement of Liability.
Unaccompanied Minors
- Children under the age of 12 will not be accepted to travel alone unless they are accompanied by someone at least 18 years of age.

Check-in counter would be closed 45 minutes before take-off.

Refund
Refunds for Firefly Airlines are not currently given in the form of Credit Shell. The conditions for submitting a refund are as follows:
- Credit shell cannot be cashed in cash or credit card balance if the voucher is not exchanged.

Reschedule
The conditions for submitting a reschedule of Firefly are as follows:
- Reschedule fee will be waived
- The waiver of reschedule fee only applies for one time only
- Submissions are made at the related airlines
- The submission is done at least two (2) hours before the flight departure time
- Fare differences and other additional charges (e.g. applicable taxes) will apply

Reroute
- Submitting a re-route can be done while using the same airline
- Submissions are made at the related airlines
- If the reroute ticket price is greater than the Credit Shell value given, the price difference will be paid by the passenger. If the ticket price is lower than the Credit Shell given, then the price difference will not be given to the passenger.
