Jeju Air Features
Jeju Air Co. Ltd. is the first and largest low-cost airline in South Korea. It offers scheduled domestic services between several cities in South Korea, as well as between Seoul and international destinations, including Japan, China, Russia, the Mariana Islands, and various Southeast Asian countries.
The name Jeju Air is inspired by Jeju Island, an island in Jeju Province, South Korea. This island is located in the Korean Strait, precisely under the Korean Peninsula, in the south of South Jeolla Province. Jeju Island contains world heritage sites, such as Jeju Volcanic Island and Lava Tubes.
The Jeju Air airline was founded in 2005. Since its establishment in 2005, Jeju Air has expanded its scale following customer demand for reasonable flight ticket fares and bringing continuous innovation to the Korean aviation industry. In 2016, the airline joined the Value Alliance, which is an aviation alliance that is only followed by airlines providing low-cost carrier services. The airline Jeju Air has a service base in Jeju City, Jeju-do, South Korea.
In 2018, Jeju Air handled 7.3 million international passengers, along with 4.7 million domestic passengers. The airline's local traffic has been relatively flat since 2016 because it has almost entirely concentrated on global expansion. The airline has a hub airport at Jeju International Airport (CJU), Incheon International Airport (ICN), and Gimpo International Airport (GMP).
