The main dining and relaxation area is situated in the center of the rooms. The rooms are simple thatched rondavels in good condition, clean and have their own bathroom. The beach is small and very clean. Manager does early morning beach cleans. The food is home cooked and delicious. The bar is self-help and the fridge has plenty of cold beer and cool drinks. The view from the deck is the best!

Let's begin with the positive. Luphathana is a remote but stunning campground with adequate accommodation and kitchen amenities. Lorna the manager is a gem and helped us with everything we needed. As 2 women travelling together and the only 2 guests during our 2 night stay we felt safe and protected. On the downside, we made our reservation explicitly to see if we could travel to the camp in the vehicle we were traveling in because we didn't have a 4 I 4 and we confirmed that we could. When we received confirmation that we would be able to go to the camp, we made our reservation and paid for our stay. Luphathana is a road from hell with huge borders and ditches that are undoubtedly not accessible by a car without a very high clearance and a vehicle we did not have. It was a 4-hour drive at night that I would not want on my worst enemy, and I don't understand how this was miscommunicated.

The path to the lodge is subpar. The beach below is serene and a real gem. As the roads are unsteady, you will need a 4 I 4 to enter the lodge. If you don't have a 4 I 4 vehicle, you may book a pick-up. We recently got back from a three-night stay at the drifters Wild Coast Lodge in Port Grosvenor. Despite the unfavorable weather, we had to return because we had so much fun on our first visit. Sadly, we have seen the lodge very quiet since it has been closed, but everything was in excellent shape, and Robbie and Joe's personal care left us hungry. Fresh fish and even crayfish were offered to us, including tasty fare. A nice surprise, and they were happy to provide us with lunches to enjoy while we were trail running. Both the dining room bar and the simple, tidy rooms. You have numerous options for hiking trails at the lodge because it is situated close to the waterfall bluff and the Mkhambathi nature reserve. Dolphins and whales were found on the deck, which is hidden among the wildwood trees. We had the good fortune to observe dolphins and whales.

We recently got back from a two-night stay at the lodge. Rob, Joe, and Nomabantu were absolutely fantastic, the place is very neat and clean, and all three went out of their way to make us feel very welcome. We had a great time, and I highly recommend the lodge. Thank you Rob and his team once more.
