The hotel is pretty pricey, however, this is probably the closest you are going to get to luxury in El Chalten area. The rooms are comfortable and functional, however slightly dated. Keeping in mind, in comparison to the other hotels in El Chalten this is the best one and they were very friendly and accommodative. They delivered us extra blankets at 10:30 local time and provided us with adapters for the Argentinian outlets. Their wifi is shaky, as when there are many people online it is very slow, but during the day when most are on excurisions (you will probably not be in your hotel room during the day as Mt. Fitz Roy is a 10 min walk away). Overall it was a solid hotel and is the best you are going to get in the El Chalten reigon.

We stayed in an superior room which was big and spacious. There were some paint marks on the carpet but that won’t hurt you. The room was kept clean and tidy, the bed was big and comfortable and we had lovely views out to the mountains. The breakfast was as good as everywhere else I’ve stayed in Argentina and the staff were friendly and helpful. My only small complained would be the lack of fans or air conditioning. I found the room really warm.

El Chalten is largely a small backpacking town that has few moderate to luxury options. There is no Ritz hiding in the gorgeous mountains! Los Cerros is a nice backpacking lodge that you might find in Austria or Switzerland for $100 a night or so. The property is out of date and not luxurious. They have added a spa to claim they offer 5 star services, etc. The rooms are about the equivalent to a Super 8 in the US. One large problem with the rooms is that if you open the windows, there are no screens and many bugs will come in the room. They need screens on the windows! We slept well at Los Cerros as it was very peaceful and quiet. The mountain air was wonderful. We got up a little late for breakfast and alot of the offerings were inedible. The eggs were grey and could not be eaten. As it was high season, we paid about $250 a night for Los Cerros, which is waaay too much for what this property really is. I am close to giving it two stars because Los Cerros claims to be something it is not. The service was generally very good and so it is fair to give it three stars. I don't think there are better options in the area, but paying a high rate for this property leaves a lot to be desired. Hopefully, someone opens something nicer in the area.

Spent two nights at Los Cerros. The rooms are fairly basic but functional. Comfortable beds. The spa looked nice, but we did not use it as there are limited hours during the day. The staff are outstanding. Helpful, knowledgeable. The food in the restaurant is outstanding - try the chocolate lava cake! The view from our window was amazing. They arranged our transfers to and from El Calafate as well as the transfer to the Fitz Roy trail head which we would recommend to anyone doing this challenging but rewarding hike. El Chalten is a really special place with incredible scenery all around.

I noticed one reviewer said this was a pack packers paradise. They were not wrong. If you are not a serious hiker/trekker, this is not the place for you. Another reviewer wrote “this is not a five star hotel”, and I would agree with that comment. However, it is probably the best in El Chalten. Location: *****. LC is located in the middle of town on top of a knoll, giving it a panoramic view of the valley and the town below. There is not much in town, except for a some bar/restaurants and beer joints where young back packers hang out. And like a ski town where everyone walks around with skis, her everyone walks around with pack packs and trekking poles. Rooms: ****. While the rooms could use a refresh, ours was perfectly fine and clean. The room has one huge window showing off the spectacular up valley valley. The bathroom had a combo jacuzzi tub/shower (which I always hate) and a single vanity. Service: *****. The front desk staff could not have been more helpful. They arranged our transfers to and from the airport, and while we could have taken the small bus shuttle for the 2.5 hour ride from the El Calafate Airport, we choose to have a private driver. The staff was also very cooperative when we decided to cut our stay down from three to two nights, giving us a refund for the last night. While my group (two couples) enjoy hiking, we are not serious about it, and found there was very little alternative activities to warrant staying another night. Food & Beverage: ***. We had one dinner and two breakfasts. The dinner was fine, but not memorable. Breakfast selections were good, but not very broad. There are a couple of lounges where one can sit and enjoy a drink. WIFI: *. The guide books were totally correct; cell service and WIFI is not existent outside your hotel. Apparently everyone relies on Direct TV for cell service, which is spotty and best and slow. So come prepared to have minimal service. LC is a perfectly fine hotel in the middle of a poor selection of hotels. Rooms are good and service was excellent, but if you are not interested in serious hiking/trekking, El Chalten is not the place for you.
