Captain Stirling Hotel

I firstly would like to address how dirty this place is ( women's toilet had no toilet paper ,room was filthy dirt on the floor cobwebs everywhere outside dek had piles of dirty dishes the shaird kitchen was a complete joke bins over flowing stail bread no AIRCON WHAT A JOKE NEVER EVER STAYING HERE AGAIN

The staff are great but the food is just terrible! We ordered the Fish and chips and the steak. The fish is not Bara and is frozen. The steak was an absolute joke - couldn’t cut it with a chainsaw! They are buying cheap quality food and the chef is a joke!!! Gordon Ramsey would have a field day here! Total waste of money - revolting.

We were unfortunately booked here last Friday as we were going to an event nearby . The carpet on the way upstairs was filthy and gave us a good idea of what we were in for . The room was small and in desperate need of a lick of paint , the shared bathroom also very tired and plenty of dead bugs around the edges of the walls . Only a fan in the bedroom , I would hate to stay on a very hot night or in the middle of winter . I expected it to be noisy at night time which of course it was being a pub but at 5am the music was blaring again , maybe the cleaners ? I don`t know how long ago the pictures on the website were taken but it certainly doesn`t look like this now .

Decided to do things differently this year. Stress free Christmas. Looked up the internet for venues for Christmas Lunch. Booked a table for two at Captain Stirling Hotel. Informed the lunch starts at 12noon. We were impressed with the iconic Captain Stirling Hotel & the staff. All staff were decked out in Christmas hats, friendly service with prompt attention. Our table waiter was Les who was exceptional in wit & service. Always asked if we required anything to let him know. Greeted with a prawn cocktail. The buffet selection was extensive seafood,fresh rolls,cold meats,salads. Cooked hot Christmas meat selection, roasted vegetables with all the accompliments to go. Desert selection wide choice. All this set out artistically. Compliments to the chef. Nothing was too much for them. Christmas Carols for background music. What stole my mind was the delightful & thoughtful added bonus of father Christmas arriving & presenting the children with a present. A Polaroid photo was presented to the children when presented with their gift. Parking wasn't an issue. Well priced for what was delivered $99 per person. Would certainly have on my calendar for next year. Start looking around August or like the Captain Stirling Facebook page to keep up with events

A good selection of meats and seafood, with all the extras to go with it. The potato salad was very disappointing however. A great array of desserts, but again just let down by the Christmas Pudding which was very dry - all the other desserts very good especially the Eton Mess, had I not been already full would have gone back for more!! Our table service waiter was good and attentive. The kids got a pressie from Santa - overall really good, and worth it not to have to worry about shopping for the right food for Christmas Lunch and NO CLEARING AWAY OR WASHING UP!!
