We have stayed at a few resorts and hotels, but the “ Intercontinental” in Sorrento has to be amongst the best. The staff were so prompt and friendly in anything we requested. They were even beautiful enough to provide us with a a bottle of wine for our 20th year anniversary. Love this place.

The hotel has a strange configuration probably because it is a heritage building, but access from the main street goes past a fully working kitchen and is possibly dangerous and ugly. The signs and floor numbering are confusing. The rooms are ok, although my rug was fraying slightly and no one came to help it over my 3 night stay or ask me if I wanted a towel etc. Audrey is a great restaurant, but the rest of the food is very ordinary and service is truly awful. My order simply didn't come and they had to do it again. I'm guessing there is a shortage of staff, and the ones they have are untrained walking past empty dishes and cups. When I checked out they had put everyones meal for the Friday night on my bill! I insisted on checking but it wasn't my signature and the amount was random. Apologies after almost insisting I was a liar. all this after having a false emergency warning at am on Saturday morning. Terrifying until you realised you weren't in Beirut but again no fire or staff or an announcement that it was a false alarm and a friend who went outside said that all the security staff were in a huddle outside on the main street. So this hotel is a total failure.

This hotel recently refurbished with the all facilities that one expect from a five-star hotel. The room is nicely furnished and has a private terrace. The staff was amiable and helpful. The only drawback was having to pay for parking in the hotel premises.

We had a two-bed suite in the new wing, excellent. huge. great amenities. Most importantly, every staff member we dealt with was incredible. In post-couid land I'm not sure how they did this, there is a staff shortage everywhere and there is a limited staff pool on the peninsula, but somehow this location has the best staff of any place I've stayed in Australia. Truly astounding. Hats off to the recruiters and trainers, but ultimately to the wonderful people who looked after us. We ate in Audrey with our boys, aged 14 and 11, and far from being ignored, as might happen when you bring your kids, I feel we were treated with special treatment. 1010.

The rooms in this hotel are way too small for the price they charge. I don't mind paying 750 for a room if it's worth it but if you're talking about a shoebox with a couch and lounge chair squatted in and not enough room for two suitcases in the bedroom you have to wonder. Also forget the terrace which looked out over a side building. I originally booked the basic room that costs $500 that was smaller but thought I'd change it and treat myself and my husband. Yes, lovely decor and great service, but for someone who frequently stays across the world, the room was tiny. After all, we are in Australia and not Paris.
