Everything about Chobe Marina Lodge is just beautiful.We got a room with a breath taking view yet private,the food was amazing,the activities were so much fun being able to see all the animals and the gorgeous sunsets.The staff was so friendly and welcoming.Definately going back soon!!!

A beautiful place with a perfect location by the river. The staff was very helpful and friendly, they make you feel at home. You will also enjoy the game drive and boat cruise they offer. It’s definitely worth visiting again.

The lodge structure and location is great. The problem is the people working within it and management. After a 5 and a half hour drive we arrived for check in at 15h00 and were told our rooms were not ready - that we had to wait for 5 minutes. 20 to 30 minutes later I had to follow up with them to ask what was going on. The response from the duty manager - "I told you it would be a few minutes". We got to our room - the one we had booked for 2 adults, a 4 year old and a 9 year old child . We looked forward to a double bed and sleeper couch for the kids as per quote. We'll, we got a double bed... and a couch - not a sleeper couch. When I asked the duty manager to rectify this, we were offered a mattress on the floor since the 'sleeper couch' was actually a sofa that could sleep one person. When we advised that we did not accept a mattress on the floor, the response from the manager - "I thought the booking was for three people and not four", which he said as he held a booking quotation we paid against which indicated a booking for 4 people - in black and white. After a colourful exchange with the manager in which I tried to explain the difference between a regular sofa (which does not pull out) and a sleeper couch as per our quote) - the conclusion from the manager - "at Chobe Marina this is called a sleeper couch". The manager said he would engage his COO. Half an hour later, a total ps an hour and a half after since our arrival, we saw no one. Starving and thirsty we decided to venture out into the hotel to find a restaurant (since nothing was told to us about the amenities and services upon arrival and check in). We found one. After calling into the kitchen for help, someone eventually came and assisted us. I had a surf and turf with freezer and microwave - burned steak, and stale multicoloured prawns. My daughter had fish fingers with what looked like either blood or ketchup inside them once broken open. Eventually, we were given adjoining rooms to fix the sleeping arrangement challenge. No explanation. No apology. We then settled in and let the kids swim in a dirty and murky pool. The following night, a leaking air con soaked the kids bed in the adjoining room. The resolve - to pull the mattress away from the leaking water, flop the mattress, and put the kids to sleep next to the dripping electronics. Any apologies? Nope. In our three night stay we sent our time at other lodges, restaurants, and did activities with other service providers to get away from the lodge. We did all we could do to stay away from the nightmare that was our accommodation. Any apologies? Nope. Not even at checkout. Surprising our bill did not include the horrid lunch we had upon arrival. When we enquired about this we realised that not even this was an apology. Last parting words from the duty manager - your meal was comped because it is a special the hotel was running. No farewell, no goodbye. My conclusion? Chobe Marina is the place where vacation dreams go to die. Home to the worst customer service in Kasane. A result of the covid-19 pandemic on business operations? Who knows... All I know is on 14 years of travelling the southern African region, this is the first time I've taken the time to write a negative review on a business I have stayed at. I certainly didn't expect it to be on a 4-star luxury Aha hotel group member. Shocked and traumatised beyond words and expression.

Ok so there are little guesthouse type places, whose owners try but just can't deliver because they have no experience or training. Count that one out. This is an aha chain hotel, which belongs to southern Africa's biggest tourism company, Tourvest. But we get here at 4pm and are made to wait at reception with our luggage piled up for one hour before we get to go to the room. Reason not being that we have to queue, but because our rooms are not ready yet. Meanwhile, we are told that part of the resort is actually used to quarantine people with COVID contact. Not that this might have been something we would have liked to know before booking the place...Then, in our room, there is just a couch -not a sleeper couch- for our two kids. We ask them to sort it out, waiting, for the Vice-GM, then the GM...time goes by while we watch two warthogs bathing in big comfortable mudholes they must have dug without anyone attending to the gardening. In fact, leafs are everywhere on the ground, like the place has fallen asleep for a month. Then, as our issue is slowly starting to being attended to, we have to prove that we indeed booked for two kids in our email history. No sorry no nothing. When we eventually get the extra room with a proper bed for them and we want to eat supper the fillet is overcooked rock solid, the prawns burned. Neither the same day or the next does anyone check with us if we're ok or anything. They, including the GM just walk past us like we're strangers. Wanting to put the kids to bed in the room we had to fight for so much, we then discover that the Aircon had been leaking, soaking the bed down to the mattress. We call reception, explaining the problem, telling them to bring bedsheets. After half an hour the receptionist himself appears without bedding but with some ridiculous clutter of tools maybe usable to fix a bicycle flat but not an aircon, telling us the duty manager has knocked off and there is nobody doing maintenance or housekeeping now. So we had wait for him to bring bedding (he had to go back yet again after bringing the wrong size, but forgive him, he is the RECEPTIONIST, not housekeeping), to help him flip the mattress, he puts on dry sheets and we pull the bed away from the still leaking aircon. This drama lasted until 9pm. We feel like eating sth after all this stress and call our new 'friend' at reception, only to be told that the kitchen is closed - at 9pm in a 4* resort?!!

We had an extremely nice two room suite with a view (although limited by trees) of the Chobe river. The lodge is very nice with a beautiful pool, gift shop and a really good restaurant. Service was first class and all the staff was very nice. The only downside was one night we had dinner by the river. Insects were out of control. Eat in the restaurant.
