On arrival at WildTrack I was greeted very warmly. I was shown to my accommodation which is really wonderful. I was fortunate to be the only guest there, however whilst this was a great advantage at another place it wasn't so much here. Except that I did have the company of one of the wonderful managers, Boi on a day tribe to Chobe, which was a fantastic day with a very knowledgeable guide who made every effort to fit in as many sightings and knowledge throughout the day. The food was nice, a bit average for breakfast and lunch but the dinner's entree and main course were excellent. Unfortunately it is not stated on their web page the actual distance one needs to travel for each game drive. Nearly half of the allocated time was driving there and back. Besides this ultimately one very bad incident would preclude me from ever recommending Wild Track to other visitors ( I have noticed going back through other reviews that only a few months earlier the same thing happened) On the second last day we got back late and I only had a short time between getting back and going to have dinner. I guess it was my mistake but being the only guest at the place I presumed in a locked room I could leave my handbag. I didn't notice that night, infact I only noticed when I was transported back to the airport and went to tip the driver. My purse had been emptied of all money approximately $120 AUD. I was devastated and felt very bad to not be able to tip the driver who I could tell was also very upset I had been robbed. Upon getting back to Australia I communicated with the manager who informed me an investigation had been done and police had been notified and one staff member had been fired. The manager also told me that she had reported it to the owners who said I should be reimbursed the tips I left at the end (about $300) and that this money would come out of those employees that I had tipped. I was very upset about this because I wanted to be reinbursed but not at the employees expense, the owners should be paying especially as the had been made aware of theft only a few months early with similar circumstances. I emailed the owner and requested just the $120 that had been stolen but did not wish it to come out of the employees pay (which is very minimal). I never got a response despite the owners telling the manger they had heard from me and would sort it out. I tried to email them quite a few more times but heard nothing. I feel it is terrible that the owners would allow this to go on (not investigating after the first theft) and offer compensation without ever following through. It really put a dampener on the end of my trip to Africa that I had saved for many years to be able to do, not to mention that stolen money was to buy something for my daughter duty free on the way home

Kudos to the staff for a terrific time. We very much enjoyed the professional manner in which we were treated with certified, knowledgeable guides, five star food, top notch managers, and a variety of game observed on drives in multiple directions. Botswana's game experiences were excellent both with Wild Tracks and with Chobe National Park, which we highly recommend. Chobe's land and water safaris are excellent. Our guide told us about ecology and behavior of animals on top of great sightings of a wide variety of them. We took a village drive with our guide telling us its history and current state. We experienced some traditional dancing and singing both by village residents as well as staff on our departure. The heat was oppressive though when we visited - 39-40 degrees C. So I'd advise not traveling in October, though the lack of foliage and concentration of animals around waterholes was an advantage. We would visit again any other time and highly recommend Wild Tracks.

I can't recommend this place enough. We were a family of five staying here for three nights, and we loved every second of it. Tracey and her staff are doing a fantastic job making everyone feel comfortable. Wildtrack is the only lodge around, which means that you see no other vehicles during the game drives at dusk and dawn. The animals are slightly more skittish, but since you are alone, it truly feels like the real thing (unlike Chobe, for instance, where you could have ten vehicles surrounding a lion). The game is plentiful, and when you find something, you can watch it in peace for as long as you please. We took the opportunity to spend one day up at Chobe River Front, which was a great complement to our time at Wildtrack. Tracey involves the local community in her business, so village visits are offered as as an activity and we had the pleasure to watch a group of locals perform a singing and dancing act, where we were included in the end. No eye was left dry. This could have felt artificial in a different environment, but at Wildtrack, everything felt authentic. One thing that is really worth mentioning is the food. This was by far the best food we had during our time in Southern Africa. The food was outstanding and would have been competitive anywhere in the world. We were all extremely impressed by the food. The rooms are nothing short of fantastic with outdoor showers and indoor bathtub. The entire staff, including our guide, the driver, and Lilly at the front desk were all knowledgable and sweet. We really want to come back, and I am envious of anyone who will make their way to Wildtrack, even if I now have already been there.

I have struggled with writing this review (I hear my mother’s voice: If you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything at all.) But ultimately, while some of our experience at this lodge was good (very nice rooms; native singing and dancing with local villagers), I have to refer to one very negative experience that may help other travelers. We (myself, spouse, and brother) stayed at Wild Track in September for 3 days. I do want to mention that, on our arrival, Wild Track was literally in the midst of an awful experience which I know caused issues for them, and I do not want to judge them too harshly. As we drove up the road to the lodge, there was heavy smoke, and we could see staff beating out small fires with hand tools and branches! Sadly, the fire had actually consumed one of their buildings and badly damaged another. The smoke was quite heavy, but fortunately none of us had breathing issues, so while it was unpleasant it was not life threatening. Small fires continued to burn through the night. The staff was very apologetic about not providing a sufficient welcome, but we assured them that we understood the priorities! The fire did cause disruption of both the power and water, and, at times, we lacked both. The staff worked hard to correct issues and, for the most part, did a good job of keeping us informed about problems. Again, I do realize that dealing with a fire that caused so much damage created chaos for them, but some of the concerns we have with Wild Track were not directly related to the fire. First, it is quite some distance from Kasane and the drive is 1 ½ hours. If you plan on going to Chobe then I recommend doing that either before or after staying at Wild Track in order to maximize your time. Second, one of the things we enjoyed so much at other Botswana lodges was the communal dining table. It was wonderful to speak with guests from other countries, but also gave us the opportunity to get to know our guides and lodge managers. At Wild Track, the dining was much more “Americanized”. Each set of guests had their own individual table. When we arrived, there was only one other couple and while we said hello to them at mealtimes, we never had the opportunity to speak with them at length. For a single traveler, I can imagine the dining experience would be rather uncomfortable. Third, we found Wild Track to be less accommodating of our vegan/vegetarian dining requirements. From innumerable servings of canned fruit cocktail for dessert to an assertion that mopane worms were vegan/vegetarian friendly, to a “joking” threat from our otherwise friendly chef that she would make sure we ate meat if we returned, we found the dining experience to be lacking, particularly in comparison to other lodges. And finally, as I mentioned earlier, there ultimately was one very bad incident which would preclude us ever recommending Wild Track to other visitors. My husband’s iPad was stolen during our visit there – either from the room or from the lounge. I realize that it is his fault for not securing the iPad in the safe at all times, but it was quite disheartening to know that an employee of the lodge took advantage of that oversight in order to steal it. Obviously, we informed the manager about the missing iPad, but he seemed very unconcerned. We never heard from him again and the lodge never contacted our safari company to inform them about this or about the fire. On our return to the US, I contacted the safari company with feedback about our trip and they kindly offered to replace the iPad, which wasn’t their responsibility, of course. There are just so many choices when choosing a lodge, I recommend that travelers look elsewhere.

This is an outstanding lodge the Managers and staff are just so accommodating it is worth the effort to take a safari here. The rooms are large with indoor and outdoor shower and the meals are just fantastic prepared by Pearl and Simon the 2 amazing chefs. The water hole frequently visited by Baboons are entertaining and and a nice place to sit with pool near.
