This was a fantastic stay at Brazil's Atlantic coast. We enjoyed the hospitality of Genesa and Guiseppe, the cozy, relaxed atmosphere, the spectacular ocean vistas, walks on the beach, and the ever-present breeze. Barbanera Club lies on the beach in what is otherwise a normal neighbourhood on the outskirts of Fortaleza. It's quiet here, and we were never kept awake by noisy neighbours partying til dawn like we've experienced elsewhere in Brazil. Exploring the beach by foot will reward the adventurous with quaint (even spartan) seafood restaurants frequented by locals where you can eat freshly caught fish, crab and shrimps for lunch under a straw roof, with your bare feet planted firmly in the sand.
The highlight of our day was breakfast and morning coffee on the patio overlooking the ocean, surrounded by palms and bouganvilleas (see my photo).
Our room was small but clean, well ventilated and with that great sea-view. The rocky beaches here were a great pleasure for us on our daily walks, but they are dirty in some places and for the most part not suitable for swimming - but of course the pool is at hand if you want to take a dip.
We had a wonderful time!
