Firstly, the location is pretty good and it's a peacefully quiet place. If you are looking for hotel that you can read a book in, then this is it. As a business traveller their website promised wifi, premium tv channels, a pool and a fitness suite. The pool was green and hadn't been used in months, the fitness are consisted of 2 dumbells outside, the air on constantly leaked water down the walls and onto the fridge ( which couldn't be plugged in as it had a UK plug on it). The tv had one channel only. The owner apologized constantly then went back to his beer in the bar whilst we went outside to find food. The wifi only worked in one area as all of the IT equipment was disconnected constantly. The worst thing was the Mosquitos. on arrival, every window and door to the room was open, at just past midnight I asked for some spray to help but the staff had gone elsewhere. The room was never clean during my stay and the sheets were filthy, the towels had stains on them and had been used prior to my arrival. There was something left in every single drawer in my room ranging from stale bread to condoms. Breakfast consisted of fried eggs and stale bread with a jar if Nutella for good measure. I have dunces moved. Beware! The owner likes your money but obviously doesn't like you! Stay clear!

I stayed at this hotel for my first couple of visits to Burundi. It is located on the edge of the very secure and well guarded "diplomatic" residential area at Kiriri on the hill overlooking the city. On the plus side the view is excellent and the hotel is high enough to reduce the mosquito nuisance and the temperature is always a little lower than down in the city. There is a nice pool but not in the best location being in front of two bars with many onlookers at times. The rooms are in various buildings that are set out like a colonial house and outbuildings. The staff are very friendly and try hard, especially on the front desk where they have some English but most of the other staff do not. The breakfast is served buffet style and is sometimes very limited, especially when the numbers of residents are low, as they often are. The other food is of an OK standard but the menus are limited. The rooms are very basic and poorly furnished, and over a long stay become quite uncomfortable. There is only a very small working surface and the chair was very uncomfortable. Th TV did not have too many channels to start with and possibly as an economy measure seemed to reduce with every stay and finally amounted to only BBC World in English. The internet connection was very poor, only one small corner of one bar seemed to have anything like a decent connection and all this got very frustrating after a while. Hotel bills had to be paid in cash which is quite inconvenient if having a long stay and I finally decided to have a look around for alternatives and moved to the Hotel Club du Lac Tanganyika for pretty much the same daily rate and far far superior amenities. One thing that was a little hard to explain was that the hotel seemed very popular with visiting diplomatic delegations as it could take a large entourage and was reasonably secure. It is also reasonably close to a couple of decent restaurants such as Chez Vaya and Belvedere. I eventually

The hotel is clean, safe, and quiet. The rooms are well-appointed and have A/C. There's a lovely pool. If that's all you're looking for, you may be plenty happy. But it's quite far from the city centre, and while the staff are friendly enough, getting them to follow up on inquiries - such as calling a taxi or assisting with the conversion of money - takes multiples requests to the point of literally sitting by the reception desk until it's done. The rooms are a little expensive, compared to other offerings of similar quality, and while each has a television, the channels are limited to Evangelical broadcasting and ABC Family - no BBC, al-Jazeera, etc. I was told this was a "glitch" that they were about to fix any moment, but for the duration of my stay, nothing changed. Would not stay here again.

This small hotel / guest house was very pleasant, but quiet. The property has the feel of a large converted house, which makes it feel intimate, and not over run by guests. The front of house staff were polite and friendly. The rooms were very large and reasonably decorated. There was air conditioning but no wall safe. The wifi was free and reliable. There were mosquito nets over the beds. There was a good sized swimming pool, with lounge chairs. Breakfast is served on the terrace over looking the pool. If you want a cooked breakfast I recommend that you order it the night before, and state what time you will be arriving (otherwise you might have rather a long wait!). It felt a reasonable place to stay for a few days, as long as you aren't expecting the hotel to provide the basis of an exciting fun filled stay.
