After my raving review previously, I now have to tone down my enthusiasm.
After staying at this place for several years in succession, we were very disappointed that the hotel has downgraded its facilities and services earlier this year. We were three couples and paid premium rates, but got less than what we were used to, but also less that advertised on websites like booking.com. [The hotel has made a change to this information recently, but the information given is still not correct and promises more than delivered. The hotel claims, that the websites have been updated, which is not true as of to date].
For those interested,the main points (worth the money we used to pay) are:
1. The kitchen is locked and arriving guests are not informed that they can request the kitchen to be unlocked. Rather, the impression is given, that unlocking the kitchen is a special favour and other guests of the same party did not get it because "they did not ask for it".
2. For some, including myself, the in room á la carte service for breakfast was of great value. This service has been discontinued and replaced by a buffet in a room with two large TV sets having a noise competition.
Still the location is nice (but there are other choices), but surely not the excessive rates our group has been charged. Maintenance is overdue, our request to fix an electrical hazard was not fixed and our unit had plumbing issues.
What a way to run down what used to be a prime place to stay. I feel sorry for some of the staff who, over years, had almost become friends.
