I stayed at Casa Muriel for 20 days - visiting family who lives in Comuna Nunoa (10 minute walk to my son's apartment). I was there Jan.-Feb., in their HOT summertime - no A/C, but it cools off in the evening & mornings are lovely. Oscillating fans do the trick to help with the heat. The grounds are naturally beautiful, the patios charming and inviting. The furnishings throughout are funky and mix of flea market/grandma's attic - very fun. Wonderful Europeran style breakfast served every morning at a shared dining room table. The staff are very friendly and accommodating - Google Translate works great if your Spanish is not (great). Because I was there 3 weeks, I met a wide variety of travelers - engaging in conversation over breakfast and on the patio. It was a wonderful cultural experience that I will always remember. And, when I return to Santiago to visit my family, I will stay at Casa Muriel -- my "home away from home"
