Way way south of the border
While on a business trip to Santiago Chile I had the opportunity to stay at the Marriott.
Upon entering the hotel I was greeted by head of security Mr. Jamie. I met him before on a previous stay this month at the Marriott Santiago and both times Mr. Jamie was polite, professional with a wonderful smile while at the same time exuded strength and confidence that let me know that everyone in the hotel, about 3 people, well about 50 people could rest peaceful knowing that he and his staff would protect us.
Upon check-in I was greeted by the Front Desk Manager Ms. Marta Teixeira. Her normal front desk employees were there but I guess she wanted to assist me and my colleagues.
In this Covid controlled world we live in today she explained all hotel and government procedures and policies that needed to be complied with. Of course my colleagues and I and the entire hotel staff wore a mask.
I was impressed with her understanding of the Covid procedures and command of the English language. She gracefully answered all of our questions and concerns. She spoke English very well as if it was her mother tongue without a Spanish/Latin accent . She was very polite, professional and tolerant of some of our maybe annoying questions that she probable get several times a day from hotel guests.
The hotel is situated in the middle of the city center with great restaurants and a shopping mall only 5 minutes walk away.
The view from the hotel is very picturesque as you walk in spring time clothing, blue skies, bright sunshine and gaze at the snow covered mountains that feel like you can touch them as they stand very majestic consuming your entire 180 degree view.
With only about a 9 hour flight from Texas, it was a good way to experience this part of the world.
