Having stayed at many hotels throughout China for a similar price this hotel is definitely one of the best. The hotel is modern and the room was super cool and spacious. We asked specifically for a room facing the river and with a bath tub. This was a superior room which was only a few pounds more than the normal room. The only reason I have not awarded a five star is because the breakfast selection for westerners could be improved (I had noodles for breakfast) and because the staff really lacked basic English communication skills. However one girl - with Kate on her name badge used an app on her phone to converse with us which was eventually successful. The hotel is not right in the middle of things however taxis are so cheap it costs about 7¥ to get to the centre. To access the mountain we got the local bus which was amazing value at only 20¥ each. Overall this hotel is fantastic value and I would not be surprised if the price quickly increases the more positive reviews it gets.

This is a medium size hotel. The hardware and decor of this hotel are relatively modern and with no fuss. They have a bullet lift in which you can have a glimpse of the city and the near by river from a height. The twin room we had was of modest size and it was ok for a short stay. The bathroom was of adequate size. But, I think it would be a good idea that they put on some kind of a sliding door between the bathroom and the sleeping area so that there would be some privacy for someone who are not get used to show they naked body before and after their their showers. There were some finger prints on the small mirror for make up which showed that the cleaning works were not quite well done. As a common phenomenon at medium to low range hotels in China, there was less than one-third of tissue paper left on the tissue roll and there was no spare one in the toilet. The beds were comfortable. The wi-fi in our room was working fine with no password required. The location of the hotel is ok and it is within 10 minutes taxi ride from the Bus Terminal and the "Old Street" of Tunxi. ( Taxi drivers in Tunxi do not charge by the meter, so it is a good idea to negotiate for an acceptable price before getting on a taxi.) The Chinese style breakfast was good. The staff we met were efficient, friendly and helpful.

(Note: This hotel is now known as "DW Hotel Huangshan," which is how you'll see it listed at booking.com.) I randomly chose DW over the Crowne Plaza for our last night in Huangshan, and boy am I happy I did. I saw a picture of the room on the internet and there appeared to be a sunken tub next to a wall of windows overlooking the city. Probably wouldn’t be our room but I was intrigued. Well that IS the room. The design is MADNESS. Penthouse luxury digs with gorgeous wrap-around view of the city and river (we had a corner room on the top floor). Huge awesome bed with exquisite linens and abundant pillows. Beautifully appointed in every way. Huge HD flat-screen TV. Free wifi router (a guy ran up w/ one as soon as we called). Rain shower with a view. Soothing room lighting. Room service was prompt and delicious, the beers cold. If you've just exhausted yourself hiking Huangshan for a few days, this place will feel like utter heaven. The free breakfast buffet was vast, with both Western and Chinese options. The lobby, elevator, halls, dining room, bar — everything was beautifully designed — sometimes elegant, sometimes a bit funky. Eclectic with a relaxed and tranquil vibe. My husband and I couldn’t believe we were staying here for $85/night. One of the perks of traveling in China is that you can stay in a place this nice at such a ridiculously low price. In NYC this place would cost over $500/night. We laughed ourselves joyfully to sleep. There didn’t seem to be a lot of customers when we were there, and I’m worried people are confused by the name (they recently changed it from Dragon Win). But if you have a chance to spend the night in Tunxi, for God’s sake stay here! (Its right across the river from the Crowne Plaza.) Only about 15-20 min. to the airport, which made it v. convenient for our early morning flight out. Note: Not all of the front desk people spoke English, but it wasn’t a problem. They were very helpful and accommodating, e.g. easily ordered us a cab to the airport etc.

This hotel was very impressive, but service skills need more polish. The room is well appointed, has adequate room and storage space. Shower was very nice and had good water pressure. Bed was very comfortable - not typical for China where beds tend to be very firm. Sound insulation was good. The lobby was very elegant. Breakfast was adequate and included in our price. The staff speaks virtually no English, which makes communication for non-Chinese speakers difficult. Also, there was a light bulb in the bathroom that would not turn off. I requested a service person to come to fix that, but he kept on suggesting me that I just pop the card out and speak without A/C and refused to get the bulb out. I ended up sleeping with the bulb on.

Stayed here for a night after spending a couple of days closer to Huangshan mountain. The reception ladies speak very limited english however the duty manager (David(?)) was extremely helpful. He recommended us a day trip out to Hongcun ancient village, gave us great advice and directions and was very friendly. The room and bathroom is a good size, both being very clean with modern fixtures and fittings. Ask for a wifi router from reception for your room. Location is close to the river. It is a 30 minute walk to Tunxi old street or a 30 yuan taxi ride. Will definitely recommend this to others.
