Huangshan Xin'an Country Villa Hotel

We stayed there with family during our trip to Huang Shan mountains. Hotel comfortable, good location near Old Street. Typical Chinese breakfast, very tasty and variable. Friendly and helpful staff. I recommend that hotel if you plan to visit Tunxi.

clean and comfortable but NOT a long of english speaking. We had a wonderful guide- PM for his information and I can connect you. He was amazing and made the stay a lot better. The breakfast was good but didnt have a lot of western options- again very nice hotel for the price. I would suggest to ask they turn on the heat if you are coming in the winter as they wont have the heat on in your room unless you are actually checked in.

Don't expect to find here a Sheraton, Holiday Inn or an international chain hotel. This a Chinese hotel: almost no foreign tourists but schoolboys and local guest's. Ho how did I get there ? With an organized tour. And i truly don't regret it: Just look at the pictures i have attached (as I always do) and you'll understand why. Attention: The attendants at the reception ... don't speak English at all ! Perhaps other ones do but as I wrote I did not look for them being in a group. Now to the point, Pros: Cheap room rate Big room Fantastic bathroom with a tub AND a shower All the amenities and supplies are there till tooth paste and tooth brush... And... slippers Not forgetting a big window between the room and the bathroom don't worry there is a curtain (see the attached pic) And ... the hotel grounds are simply beautiful You also have a supermarket in the hotel grounds (on your way to the dining room) where you can buy not only food but also souvenirs, Chinese alcohol and all kind of local items which are well worth a look. The prices are between cheap and fair. Near the hotel, on your way to the ancient street you can also buy fresh fruits which will positively complete a maybe too Chinese diet. And of course the location: 12-15 minutes by foot from the ancient street of Tunxi and all its old shops and eateries ... You will be there ... Last but not least the adjacent park which is worth a 1-2 hour walk with its beautiful ponds (you can read my other reviews here) Cons As i wrote English wasnot spoken there A kind of a dampness is definitely felt but what can you do... with almost 100% humidity Pro/Con Breakfast: purely Chinese so you'll decide whether a pro or not Bottom line: For the price I believe its a really good choice and therefore my 4* rate.

We stayed here as a stopover near the airport before we headed to the mountains the next day. The room was nice and clean, had everything you need. They looked after our bags for us whilst we were in the mountains for a night. Friendly staff. Breakfast is just chinese though not very much for westerners but at the end of the day we are in their country so no complaints about breakfast. All round good stayover.

We were only here one night and the first non-smoking room they took us to was unacceptable. We changed floors and it was better so I would say they were very anxious to please us. The hallways were in need of new carpet and windows looked in sad shape as well. We were comfortable and it was quiet so no serious complaints, it just seemed like your standard Chinese hotel. Breakfast was rather entertaining...nothing for the Western palette but we did manage some coffee and some little cookies. No cups were available so they brought us drinking glasses. We left our luggage here as we were headed up the mtn for the next night, no problems with that. Staff was helpful but no English. Location was fine, not far from the pedestrian area where we enjoyed a fun evening.
