This was a great hotel located very close to Gulangyu. We stayed in a deluxe suite with no view, but it was still a nice room. Our room was on the "back" side of the hotel, so we were facing the city and not the ocean, which was fine since we didn't get a room with a view.
Location: great location! Very close to the shore and Gulangyu Island. Zhongshan Road is very close by as well, so it was nice to walk around. I would say it's pretty centrally located, we navigated around the area almost exclusively by foot and it wasn't too bad at all. We were able to walk back to the hotel (at a leisurely stroll) from Nanputuo Temple.
Check-in/out: very easy process and no complaints. Staff was very friendly and helped us with our free parking very quickly. I had a family member drop us off and he parked with no problem, same with checkout.
Room: the deluxe suite was very nice. We didn't have a view (as mentioned above), but the room was nice. The suite had a bathroom by the entrance with a sitting area, TV, and coffee and tea. The "bedroom" had its own bathroom with a tub and shower and another TV. The bathroom had a Xiaomi digital scale too so that was a nice addition. The room was very comfortable and I have no complaints. Suites are always my go-to in China.
Amenities: I walked through the pool area and used the gym. The gym was very nice and very equipped. A variety of cardio equipment including treadmills, ellipticals, and bikes. Included weight machines and free weights as well. The gym also had a separate open space that you might find for classes. The pool looked nice as well. There was a lifeguard on duty watching the pool. Both the gym and pool were on like the 3rd or 4th floor facing the ocean, so there was a very nice view on the treadmill.
Staff and service: no complaints, very friendly and I felt welcomed here!
Overall: I was debating between the Swiss Grand Xiamen and another hotel nearby and I'm glad I chose the Swiss Grand Xiamen. The suite was spacious and the amenities were very nice. It was a great stay and I recommend it for anyone visiting Xiamen!
