The hotel looks beautiful in photos, and portrays a bespoke, boutique hideaway in the outskirts of Xiamen. After staying one night here with my 80 year old mother, we checked out early and escaped to the spacious grounds of a larger resort. It's partly my fault of course. The hotel is not really suitable for aged folk. But I have stayed in boutique hideaway resorts before where, despite of the profile, does offer premium accommodation and service. Unfortunately, the Hotel Wind lacks the facility to make this all work. I inspected various room configurations and the only room that has two twin beds for my mother and I happened to be the smallest unit, and it was cluttered. And even then the price is not cheap - much more than one would expect being located so far away from the city centre and so inconvenient - a taxi is at least 15 minutes away. The food is reasonable to good, and the staff does try hard. The geography and small size of the property limits what they can do. The design is less than professional, and the materials used less than first rate. I would consider this as a large B&B. As a deluxe boutique hotel, it falls seriously short of the mark.
