We stayed here for two nights on our visit to Prague. We had a car so for us it wasn't very inconvenient to be a bit outside the city centre. The hotel is quite charming and nicely decorated. With wood walls, old-looking decoration. I liked it. However, to me this was the nicest thing in the hotel. The rest is not as nice. First, the service. At the reception two people attended us. One was very kind and helpful, but the other one was totally unkind. She talked to you like she was angry, like despising you. This wasn't the only time she behaved like that. On the next night I went to her to ask for more soup for the shower and instead of just giving it to me she said: "didn't you ask me before for more soup already?". I hadn't, and even if I had, I don't think this is the way to treat your customers in a 4-stars rated hotel. The rooms were not so bad. Maybe a bit old. The breakfast was also not bad. Maybe for a 4 stars hotel they should offer more variety of food and also they should have homogeneous cutlery and tableware. I have never seen a hotel that has a pile of dishes with different designs and shapes. It looked like if they had been collecting it from second-hand shops. My recommendation is then to come to this hotel (it is generally cheap) if you are not too picky with the kind of things I explained, but don't expect much more than a place just to sleep.

First off, the exterior of the hotel is nicer than the interior. The images advertised on the booking sites do not match reality. The rooms were less than average with dirty carpets and a weird, badly lit bathroom, all certainly not up to a 4 star standard and more reminiscent of a youth hostel. Parking was no longer available upon returning to the hotel late at night, something the afternoon receptionist could have warned us about. We had originally intended to leave the car at the hotel's car park and head into town by taxi, but since the receptionist informed us that taxis carrying five passengers needed to be booked a day in advance, we decided to take the car into town after all, as we had a frail senior citizen with us and didn't want to make her take the bus. Upon returning that night, however, the car park was piled up with cars in every corner, some parking in front of others. The receptionist did not warn us that if we took our car, a fact that she knew about, as we discussed it with her, we might not have a parking spot left upon returning. She only told us that I should park the car closer to hotel's entrance, since a car had been broken into on their premises the week before. Had we known, we would have made a different choice. However, while the receptionist in the afternoon was nice and friendly, at least trying to be helpful up to a certain point, the night receptionist was an unfriendly nightmare. The lack of parking ensued in a lot of arguments with the unfriendly receptionist, who was very dismissive and condescending towards us. I just didn't feel comfortable leaving my car out on a street somewhere further away from the hotel, especially after what the afternoon receptionist had told me about the car break in on their premises. Since I already had a car stolen on a holiday two years ago, I've become a bit paranoid and insist on having a secure parking location. And so I informed the night receptionist, that I had solely booked their hotel because the hotel advertised it as "Free private parking is possible on site (reservation is not needed)." She suggested a side street but that too was fully packed. I then asked whether I could park in the totally empty staff parking lot I spotted behind the hotel, which she reluctantly agreed to but then refused to write something official from the hotel to prevent my car being towed, as the signs on the gate suggested. She moaned something about getting into trouble with the director and then expected me to write the note myself on a post-it note, which didn't exactly make me feel more comfortable, nor trusting. Since no parking was available even anywhere near the hotel either (we circled around for 45 minutes), with a drunken cyclist then, on top of all that, crashing into the back of my standing car (thankfully nothing happened to him, my car, however, took the grunt), the receptionist being utterly unhelpful even with that, literally saying "How is that my problem?", when I was visibly still in shock, we decided we've had enough and booked into another hotel somewhere else and checked out before even spending one night there, as we were made to feel utterly unwelcome. The whole experience was awful, we were exhausted and we just wanted to get out of there as fast as possible. Never again! As an after thought: The staff at the other hotel we then booked into, considering we arrived very late at their hotel, went out of their way to accommodate us and made us feel very welcome, assisting us with everything, and even offering us free drinks to help calm us down. They were absolutely wonderful with a level of professionalism the Na Zamecku could certainly only learn from.

We never expected perfection from this hotel but it was in the right location and it was advertising rooms with parking which was crucial for us. When we arrived there was no parking available. We were told to park on the street. What we did expect was at least a clean room, to our horror the bathroom and shower was covered in someone else's hair and we also had the pleasure of loads of ants in the room biting the hell out of us. The entire experience was not pleasant but we couldn't be bothered to complain at the time. What did finish us off was a fine from police for parking outside the hotel where they told us to park of 900kc (about £30). When I contacted the hotel, the manager Radka Letosnikova totaly denied any responsibility for the fine. Her reply was short, arrogant and she basically said that it was all expained to us by their staff in the manner that it should and we have no right to request refund for the fine. Dear Lenka, I'm not sure what sort of engineer are you but you definitely can NOT run a hotel. Please read the reviews and find yourself a new job.

Staying at this hotel proved comfortable. Rooms are good and bathrooms are spacious though most of hotels in Europe have tiny bathrooms attached to them. Bathrooms are equipped with heaters and shower cubicles. The hotel has a nice lobby and nice restaurant too but the continental buffet breakfast served is cold and devoid of choice. Service is poor and items are not replenished. Poor restaurant service is shadowing the otherwise comfortable hotel. Lifts have small capacity yet worth a stay if you can strike clear deal about the meals before checking in.
