The B&B hotels in France are good when you travel by car, often about 10 minutes away from the town centre. Relatively cheap (49 euros), often in quiet industrial areas close to different diners and supermarkets. Free outdoor parking, helpful staff, OK size room, clean bathroom (though clearly not scrubbed down every week), air conditioning, good bed, TV, WiFi that was free and quite fast. Standard extra fee for breakfast buffet, six or seven euros. Unlike most hotels in France, the continental breakfast does the job. There are scrambled eggs and bacon, tasty Malo plain yogurts with fruit jam at the bottom and cereal bread. The next time we go to France, we would love to stay at a B&B hotel again.
