Granted, we came during what seemed like a monsoon, so there was very little we could do around Biarritz. Nothing the hotel can do about the weather, naturally. However, the rooms are rather misrepresented in terms of size, being incredible tiny and unfortunately seemed even smaller since we were stuck indoors for a good part of the stay. The area with the sink and shower smelled very oddly, and the sink area had a light out, which we requested replaced (they came to replace the bulb after 3 pm, when we were actually back in the room despite being gone all day before that. We asked them to come back since we were getting ready to go back out. They never did). There was sand behind the doorjamb, which I discovered when I dropped something behind the door (I don't go poking around behind doors looking for faults, usually). Even small details like the hair dryer being just thrown on top of the closet area with the cord not even wrapped nicely could have been seen to. I think we may have left the room more orderly than when we got there, to be perfectly honest.
The worst was that we had some really, really, really noisy neighbors. They decided to avoid the terrible weather by partying next door into the early hours. We actually didn't mind that too much and ended up falling asleep despite that. What woke us up - and then kept us up - were the hotel employees who decided to knock loudly on the neighbors' door (after they had quieted down) at 5 am and then engage in a loud debate with them about how loud they were, who was complaining, and whether the police would be called. This happened twice, and again, not sure why the employees decided to conduct this noisy debate with the neighbors AFTER they had quieted down. When we mentioned this on the checkout, the employee at the desk could not have said "I don't give a $hit" louder or clearer unless he had literally said that to our faces.
Honestly, for a four-star hotel, I was really let down. I've stayed at lesser-starred hotels that are much nicer with much more attention to detail for much lower prices. I can imagine during summer and high season, perhaps these aren't as much of an issue because I'm assuming you're not in the hotel room that much. And the location really is amazing, though parking is limited. However, I can't in good conscience recommend this hotel based on our experience.
