We loved staying here! The room was super spacious, and we loved having our own pool to cool off in & the porch to drink coffee in the morning. What a treat! The staff is so friendly. There are tons of fish if you go snorkeling on the beach, and if you go to the creperie at night - you can see sharks swim by! You can kayak and SUP too. We spent 2 nights here. The first night we went to Rudy’s for dinner (delicious & they pick you up for dinner). The second night we realized prices are comparable to eating elsewhere (even the little shacks on the roadside), so we stayed at the resort for dinner and loved it. The breakfast buffet is great too!

We just spent a week at the wonderful Hilton Moorea Lagoon Resort, in over the water bungalow 80. I told my doctor it was for "enhanced social distancing" The property is beautiful, snorkeling right from the bungalow is excellent depending on the sea conditions. At my age, mornings were best as the wind had not come up yet and the lagoon was quite calm and easy to navigate. Fish were abundant around some lovely coral. The resort is doing an extensive restoration program to grow and transplant new coral. So much damage has been done by climate change. The restoration project is so important and not easy. The bungalow itself is lovely with a great bed and linens. The outside deck looks over the lagoon and we saw and heard the waves crashing against the nearby barrier reef in a never ending display of raw fascination. The minibar is kept fully stocked with water, beer and juice. Quite good, though the minibar is just cool, not like a real refrigerator, but we could get ice in a bucket to really produce delicious ice cold local beers. House cleaning service is on request and is excellent. In fact the whole staff is superb, genuinely desiring to be helpful. Standouts are Jeanie, the concierge, and Vaerea and Raimana in the restaurant. The Creperie was disappointing, just not to our taste. But the main restaurant which was the Rotui Grill was truly eccellent. Our package was half board including a buffet breakfast and a three course dinner - starter, main and dessert. Before we arrived we thought that was a bit skimpy, but it is actually far more food than we should have eaten if we were wise. Standouts were the green papaya salad as a starter, the fish specials for a main or the massive and delicious burgers like the Brie and Bacon Burger. OMG, that was incredible. We always finished with three scoops of ice cream each. For my wife it was the coconut, for me the espresso. Regarding breakfast, as others have written, their French toast is fantastic as well as their omelettes and scrambled eggs. Fresh fruit are abundant and varied. Croissants are very good after you put them through the toaster. Pineapple and orange juice are good as well. They give you your own pair of tongs to keep with you during breakfast to choose your food items. Real attention is paid to keep things clean and sanitized. It was rainy season, but we never had rain. In fact, we had starry skies that were truly amazing. I wish I had brought my tripod for some night shots. HIGHLY recommend.

If you want to have a relaxing vacation avoid this resort. Our overwater bungalow had numerous maintenance issues that took away from our experience. When we checked in the front desk attendant was nice enough. She asked for everyone’s passports and made copy of our passports. Because it was raining we got a ride in one of their golf carts to the overwater bungalow. The room is outdated but the clear water outside of the room makes up for it, though it does not seem worth the $1,000/night rate. The mini fridge with drinks was nice. The bathroom does not have a wall on one side so you could not share the room with someone who can’t see you without your clothes on. I am not sure who designed this. There was a king size bed and a sofa that can be used as a bed for one small person. It was time for dinner and it was raining so we called the hotel’s restaurant to order food. We were told that the menu is on the TV. We tried to turn on the TV but it wasn’t working. We called the front desk to let them know. It took a while but they sent someone. The guy tried to fix it but had no idea how. In the meantime I called the restaurant again trying to order food. I asked what they have, explained that the TV was not working, but the person said that he is too busy to let me know their offerings (it was raining hard, otherwise I would have walked there). I called the front desk to let them know that the maintenance guy could not fix the TV. They said that I need to talk to Hilton in the US. I waited a while and they connected me. The guy in the US tried to troubleshoot but then said that because the WiFi is not working the TV is not working and a tech needs to fix the WiFi first. I called the front desk and they sent the same maintenance guy again but he was not able to fix the problem. In the meantime I called a local pizza place and ordered pizza. While we waited we felt hot and tried to turn on the a/c. We found out that the a/c was not working. A call to the front desk and the same clueless maintenance guy arrives. While he was there we also told him that the toilet was running. He was able to stop the toilet from running, but only temporarily. At this point we are hungry and annoyed. After picking up our dinner we went to the front desk and asked if we can check out in the morning. The attendant said that she does not know and that we will need to ask the manager that will arrive at 8:30 am. After spending a night with no a/c, no WiFi, no TV and a running toilet, we call the front desk in the morning but the manager was not there. We decided to get breakfast. Breakfast has a nice variety, made to order omelettes, good coffee. However, they ran out of stuff and were slow to replace items. At 10 am we are at the front desk waiting in line. Finally we get to the assistant manager. We told him that we have issues with our room and we want to check out early. His answer was that we are free to leave but our rate is prepaid and we will not get our money back. I gave him more details of what’s going on with our room. He never apologized or offered anything. After calling someone he said that they will switch us to a different bungalow. I asked him if this bungalow has no issues and he responded “not as much as the one you are in.” Wow! Customer service is lacking at this hotel. Another example is that we went to the concierge once and asked for assistance with ferry tickets. The concierge told us that we need to go to the ferry station and that she cannot help. Also, when we checked out no one asked how our stay went. The hotel has a few kayaks and paddle boards available but you have to arrive early in the morning to get them because people take them and seem to keep them so none is available to others. The morning technician told me that the hotel has WiFi issues, so if WiFi is important to you, this is not a good place to stay. I don’t want to go into too many more details about maintenance (yes, we had WiFi and toilet issues in the second room as well). The water is clear, the resort is beautiful, but you end up spending your vacation managing maintenance people. This hotel needs to work out their maintenance issues. I would check out the Sofitel next time.

Our 2 week stay at the end of October/beginning of November was a terrific break from the awfulness of Covid, We had rainy days but staff members made sure our visit was comfortable and special. Whenever we needed our room cleaned, fresh towels and the bed linens changed, Barbara and Jasmine were there for us. At Reception, Daniel and Teonui were very responsive to our requests. Food was fine....2 weeks of the same menu still gave us choices and the daily specials added to the menu added variety. Nelly and Nina were wonderful. We'll be back....hopefully sooner than later. We are staying for 2 days in an overwater bungalow in Moorea (French Polynesia). We are on our honeymoon and we spent almost 1 month salary to stay for 2 nights in your overwater hotel. We were expecting a great experience. However several situations had happened. First of all, even though I sent an email explaining it was our honeymoon, no one has congratulate us demonstrating a poor customer experience. Also, in the room we got the water from the sink is stagnant, the shower leaks water and the curtain is in really bad state. To continue, we requested in the reception to make a local call and they told us that there is a charge, even though is a call to a place in Moorea. Finally, we decided to play a tenis game but we realized the tennis rackets were in really bad state and the balls didn't bouce well. When all this happened we requested for a complaint letter at the reception of the hotel but they gave as a blank page to write down whatever needed rather than a official complaint letter. We are really sad since its our last two days of our honeymoon and we are not spending the great days we thought. We wouldn't recommend anybody to stay at this hotel.
