Due to a false + test, we had to postpone our trip about 24 hours prior to lodging. Agoda and Sarah Nui were clear on requiring 2-day cancellation, but I thought they might at least be flexible and try to push out to a new date. Instead, they did not respond to my request at all. Be warned that they don't appear to be flexible or quick with communication.

We landed at PPT airport at 7PM, so needed to wait till the next day to catch the ferry. We took a taxi, about $25 for two people to the hotel. We had quick check in. The room was adequate and comfortable, no complaints, they give two free water bottles with the room. The front desk person was very pleasant. Nothing really to eat nearby but it was super close to the ferry terminal. The next morning we had only a 10-minute walk with our luggage and we were off to Moorea. It's a decent hotel for the price, def not luxurious.

After waiting 4.5 hours in the lobby to be allowed to check in to our room, we were horrified when we found everything in the room was old, broken, and dirty. The lighting was poor. There were huges holes in the floor of the terrrace. We would NEVER stay there again.

I booked a night at this hotel just for a lay over between my flights. My flight from Bora Bora arrived to Tahiti at 10 a.m. and my flight back to the U.S. was at the same day at 9 p.m. I wanted to find a hotel in the center of Papeete to hang out there and do some shopping and this hotel seemed like a good option. It looked pretty good on the pictures, and the price was not that bad ($125). That’s why I decided to book it. But I was disappointed right away as soon as I arrived there. First of all, the hotel’s location. It is pretty bad. There are just docks around the hotel, everything looked crappy and destroyed including the hotel’s building. The hotel’s lobby was very dark. A front desk guy barely could speak English. I arrived around 11 a.m. and asked about an early check-in to my room which was ready (hotel was empty because of COVID). But the guy refused me and asked me to pay $80 if I wanted early check-in (2 h earlier of hotel’s check-in time). I paid this money because I did not want to waste my day. The next “surprise” was with the room key. It was just a regular white plastic card which was programmed the standard way to open the room’s door. Anyway, sounds like this white plastic card was made of Gold, because I was warned if I loose it, I will have to pay $40. CRAZY! The next “surprise” was the elevator which was super small, crappy inside and stinky. The next “surprise” was my room which looked nothing like on the photos. The room was outdated, furniture had a lot of scratches. However, at the same time, I have to admit that the room was very clean, at least that’s one good thing! The bathroom looked like a public bathroom in a roadside cafe. The shower stall was small, it had no shelf to put bathroom amenities in it. Also there was no shower curtain so the water sprayed all over the floor. Bathroom amenities were of a terrible quality! The bed in my room was super uncomfortable. Also later at night, when I came back to the hotel from a walk and turned on the lights, I noticed that lighting in the room was awful, basically the room was half dark! Wi-Fi was super slow! This hotel reminded me of a cheap roadside motel somewhere in Oklahoma. But in Oklahoma, for this shith0le I would pay about $30, not $125 + $80. Anyway, I was completely disappointed! Do not stay at this overpriced armpit, even half of a day!

Stayed in the Hotel Sarah Nui on Saturday, August 29, 2020. I found the hotel to be clean, very well located - near the town center - and the staff accommodating. If they offered breakfast, I would give 5 stars! I visited a friend on Moorea who had stayed in an over-the-water bungalow. We later stayed in an apartment together in the Papeete neighborhood. I would easily compare Hotel Sarah Nui to both locations and found it to be a MUCH better deal for a fraction of the cost of the bungalow and better accommodations than the apartment. It is a 5 minute walk to the ferry terminal and a 10 minute walk to the town center. If I ever visit Tahiti again, I would strongly consider staying at Hotel Sarah Nui again and doing a day trip (or two) to Moorea. Very safe and the locals were also helpful.
