We were there in our honeymoon! Everything was great, no words to describe it. The service the food the landscape were fantastic. Except...the dolphins were kept in captivity in order to entertain humans. What a shame! How can people on this island, that are so close to nature and need to have a huge respect for sea animals, do this to dolphins? Such a cruelty!!! It's a pity because everything was perfect

We were to have begun a cruise from Tahiti but due to the virus the cruise was canceled so we added a few more nights in Moorea. Upon checking in were upgraded to a premium overwater bungalow as we became Ambassador members of the hotel chain. We were driven in a gold cart to our bungalow #623 which had an unobstructed view from the well appointed outside deck. Our room was spacious and the bathroom had two sinks, a shower and tub. We had paid for an inclusive package so breakfast and dinners were eaten at the resort. The food and service were very good with a good variety of options. We even had the buffet and dinner show included in this package. The pools were very large and clean. We were also able to use the kayaks one morning at no extra cost.

Above and beyond customer care during my stay at Intercontinental Moorea! Upgraded to overwater bungalow for a small amount (since our room had a tree in front..we changed the first night). Next day, I got the best “beach front bungalow” (317)... totally remodeled with unobstructed view to the ocean... “all thanks to “Axel the hotels multilingual manager...” I told her I was celebrating my wife’s B-day... to my surprise the on her B-day the bed was beautifully decorated with Tahitian flowers... Beautiful Lucile, the concierge... ensured we got the best seats for the Polynesian Dance Show... we got front-center table (we felt very special) ...The food amazing‼️ During the Show, the dancing team called my wife to the stage to celebrate her B-day Polynesian style.. adding a cake and a candle... + dancing... wife, daughter and I had tears for the Impromptu Polynesian Action...🙏🏼 definitely the dancing team, the manager & staff made us feel very special..🤗😘 Our friendly hotel botton “Vatea” always taking us to the room in the golf car (to avoid walking) he was very helpful and he even spoke several languages. Finally, Martin!! Our waitress... she also during dinner went above and beyond and got flowers that decorated my wife’s cake and our table... Overall, it was an amazing and unique experience... Definitely we will go back soonest... Axel, Lucile, Vatea, Martin, the room cleaning team, and the superb Polynesian Dancing Team... we are very grateful to you... Māuruuru roa‼️ God bless you 🙏🏼

Beautiful island, and obviously at one time a few decades ago, a 4 star resort. It is old, not well kept, and seemingly operated by a skeleton crew. We've stayed in many hotels- including the IHG Intercontinental Papeete/Tahiti, which is very nice. This one is not worth the money. First, almost none of the "Premium Overwater Rooms" are actually over the water. They are solidly on land, at water's edge, with only the rear deck actually over the water. Disappointing to those familiar with or desiring real over-water bungalows. Secondly, the staff- perhaps aside from front desk and bellhop- seemed in short supply and not welcoming, almost unhappy. Previous reviews mentioned a labor strike on this property in Fall 2019- it appears to still be unresolved as of March 2020. Not something that guests spending a lot to relax should expose themselves to. The distances between various points on the property are walking only, and between November and April, it frequently rains continuously, heavily- atop of stifling humidity. Though employees run around n golf carts (that is literally all you see them do), there are none for guest use and they only rarely offer a ride. The property is in no-way ADA compliant- there are stairs and narrow walks aplenty. The room was ok on the inside- clean and apparently updated a few years ago- but fit and trim were very rough- had a 1/4' gap along the main door, the sliding doors were locked using two boards in the tracks. There is a for-charge minibar but no other refrigeration. The A/C worked well, though was difficult to operate and humidity still present in the room as there were large openings above shower and toliet covered only with wire. The Intercontinental is 45' and a $45.00 taxi fare from the ferry port- one of the most remote hotels on the island. There are a few restaurants outside the property across or down the road which were better choices than the remarkably expensive on-site food & beverage. The property seems to be heavily invested in the dolphin pens directly in the center of the resort- a seemingly outdated concept but interesting to walk past on the way to or from one's room. The beach is unattractive, the pools small and sometimes crowded with tourists with passes from cruise ships or the like. The lagoon is swimmable but occasionally sharks are seen swimming through it as well, though it has been reported that they only rarely bite. If one desires a true upscale resort, with overwater bungalows, then I'd suggest looking elsewhere- perhaps Soffitel or Hilton, or even saving it for Bora Bora. I'd award the Intercontinental just 3 stars, and predict that in another 4 or 5 years, will likely cease to exist, just as happened with the former Club Med just up the road.
