This hotel was very lovely. They were welcoming and helpful. On arrival they even delivered a complimentary bottle of wine to our room because we had booked to stay for 4 nights. The hotel was very clean and even though there were many safety precautions in place we still felt relaxed and at ease. One thing that was a little confusing is the fact the hotel advertises free access to sulphur baths but they were actually in the local park which was a long distance to walk. However, their indoor spa was very relaxing. We would definitely return again !

The hotel is located on the banks of a small stream near the entrance of the Borjomi National Park. There are several terraces and pavilions overlooking the river where you can sit and enjoy the views. The hotel also has a small mineral water spring on the hotel grounds where you can have your fill of the mineral water. Othewise a larger spring is located in the market just outside the entrance. Staying at the hotel grants free entry to the National Park and the Tsar Sulphur baths inside the park (you need to show your hotel card to the security). The hotel restaurant serves an excellent international buffet breakfast and has both ala carte and buffet options for dinner. They also have a wine room with a selection of wine fines. For the fitness conscious, there is a pool and a spa. The hotel is beautiful and reminds you of a medieval palace complete with a tower on one side. There is a small tourist oriented market just outside the hotel where you can buy some souvenirs of have food and drinks. You can find several tour operators around the hotel if you want to visit the nearby attractions. Staff is friendly and service is excellent. The hotel has an excellent location in the heart of Borjomi and is an excellent choice if you are visiting the city.

My Mom and I stayed in Crown Plaza from January 6 to January 12, 2020 (it was the last part of our three weeks trip to Georgia) occupying two rooms (single occupancy each). Here is a long but detailed review: ROOMS AND CONFIGURATION: The main building has four levels. The main level contains all common areas - restaurant, bars, etc. The rooms located on the 4th level are called 300, and this is the nicest floor - it is quieter, has warmer common hallway and has The Club Lounge. Hotel’s conference facilities are located on the 200 floor and as such, the 200 floor is more noisy on the weekend. Further, the odd number rooms are facing the street, the river and the Central Park - this is the more expensive side. The even number rooms are facing an uneventful wall - I understand that all “standard” basic rooms are facing such “back” wall side and they have no balconies. After certain negotiation with the management, I received a lovely front-view room #305 with a seating area, two TVs and a balcony. Three days after our check-in, my Mom was also moved from room #210 to #314 (“end of hallway" - therefore colder, side-Park view room with lots of windows). CLUB LOUNGE. We had access to the Club Lounge - we used it a lot, so I would recommend it. The following foods and drinks are provided in the Club Lounge at no charge: (I) various cheeses, salads, cold cuts and sweets three times a day, (ii) red and white wine from 7 PM to 9 PM and (iii) various non-alcoholic beverages (including a coffee/cappuccino machine). Service could be better in the The Club Lounge(sometimes we had to call because the plates were empty and no clean tables), but overall it was a great thing to have on our floor. BREAKFAST. It was absolutely excellent every day - a very large variety of different foods and beverages. I found it convenient that all items were repeated daily - you know where to find your favourite food(s) next morning. A Special Thank You to the Lady who makes the chicken liver pate - I think it was the best liver pate I have ever tried - I so miss it now! Our breakfast was included with our stay (very good value), but they charge around 50 Lari per person if not included in your stay. DINNER. We tried hotel's buffet dinner only once. They charge about 50 Lari per person for the dinner buffet - it wasn’t worth it for us as most of the foods were carbs based (pastas, etc.) and for meat, they had only one type of breaded cutlets. We found the breakfast buffet incomparably better than the dinner buffet. However, for dinner, one can also have an à la carte option, which we did not try. SPA. I received a mineral bath + a massage combo (220 Lari), which was ok - I received better massages in other places in Georgia. My Mom had a pedicure which she did not like; moreover, the young girl who did pedicure cut my Mom and only after my Mom’s insisted requests disinfected the wound (originally she did not pay attention to the wound and even hand-waived that it’s not a big deal). She also did not to speak either English or Russian, so it was a challenge. That being said, a couple from Baku who stayed on our floor for the same time period, told us that they received daily treatments from a gentleman with initials RK (Rami Kumar I believe) and they found such treatments and the therapist to be very good. STAFF. Overall, the staff was very helpful, with good attitude and, mostly, spoke either Russian or English or both. We had some issues at check-in, which were rectified by the management. Special thanks to Georgij (the concierge) for providing daily professional guidance and useful travel tips which were helpful even in addition to my own research, David (the hotel porter) for constantly kindly taking care of us, Pavel at the reception for being so very helpful and the Lady at the kitchen who makes the awesome chicken liver pate - awesome pate and a very pleasant person (sorry, don’t know her name)! ACCESS FOR PEOPLE WITH LIMITED MOBILITY or STROLLERS. We had no issues anywhere in the hotel with my Mom’s walker as the hotel(including the rooms, entrance access ramp and hotel's parking) is completely barrier-free. The elevator is also conveniently large. Additionally, with a walker, my Mom walked by herself to the Central Park to the mineral water source. Right in front of the gate to the hotel, the side curb is modified for disability/stroller access (a curb cut) and the only obstacles on the way to the Park were the two side curbs on the pedestrian path which my Mom was able to manage (had to lift the walker). However, it would be great if: 1. the town modified the two side curbs on the way to the Park so that the pedestrian pathway to the Park's entrance is barrier-free for people with mobility issues or strollers. 2. vendors' displays be removed (or moved further) from the pedestrian pathway to the Park as they are blocking pedestrians from walking where the pedestrians should - as a result of such vendors being on pedestrian walks, people are forced to walk on the cobblestone road (where the cars drive) which is not safe and virtually impossible for the people with any mobility devices or strollers. TEMPERATURE in the HOTEL. It was warm and comfortable in the rooms and in the hotel, however I had some issues adjusting the temperature in my room. My Mom had no issues adjusting the temperature in her room. Overall, for Georgia, it was excellent conditions within the hotel and within the rooms. RECOMMENDATION. It would be great if there was some entertainment options in the hotel because there is not much of that available in Borjomi. Some Georgian folk dance or music show one night would be nice, even at extra $ charge. COMPARING to OTHER HOTELS. We had a car and we went to two other hotels in Borjomi to compare. Based on that, I would return to Crown Plaza because, firstly, of its fabulous prime location in front of the Central Park, with its precious direct mineral water access. However, if one prefers a more remote from the town centre location, then Borjomilikani Hotel and Spa also appeared very nice (larger rooms + on-site medical spa) - worth a try. Having spent two weeks in other places in Georgia, Borjomi location overall and Crown Plaza hotel specifically would be on the top of my list for a return visit to Georgia.
