We stayed at the Hotel Annaberg on an overnight trip to celebrate a friend's birthday. The hotel is located just outside the village of Bad Durkheim in the beautiful German countryside. The hotel is surrounded by local vineyards adding to its own ambience and setting. There is ample parking in the large lot or just outside the rear entrance, although the hotel has a much larger courtyard entrance perfect for outside dining or weddings. Check in was simple and efficient which allowed us to quickly join the festivities at the large and well maintained outdoor seating area - complete with a small wine bar and grilling area. We were joined by numerous local residents who were friendly and engaging. Our room, a suite, was very large for Europe, and included a comfortable queen sized bed and a small pull hide-a-bed in the couch. The bathroom was modern and the windows opened up over a very nice garden area. The room lacked air conditioning but we were quite cool with the windows open. The staff, who all speak English, were accomodating and ensured all our needs were met. Breakfast is similar to most European hotels although the staff asked if we had any special requests or needs. All in all, this was a great experience and we definately recommend the hotel!

Very pleasant hotel in a nice location. Perfect for enjoying vineyard around. The rooms are clean spacious and comfortable. The restaurant offer a short selection of very well cooked meal. There might only have too few personal for the services (both hotel and restaurant) but it has never been an issue.

Ample parking; rooms were spacious. Easy walk to town through the vineyards. Very quiet with beautiful views. One of our rooms had strobe lights going under it for several hours in the evening. Rooms could have been cleaner.

Booked at last minute when travelling and got a very pleasant surprise. Beautiful room with terrace overlooking vineyards in what had been an old winery. Restaurant was excellent with varied menu and very good local wines. All staff were very pleasant and helpful. At £65 per night unbelievable value.

This hotel has some plusses but more minuses. On arrival we met a waitress to check us in and found no record of the booking. I showed the print out of their email. They did have a suite which we found later not surprising. On the Saturday night only 4 rooms could have been occupied. On the Sunday we were on our own, on the Monday we were joined by a single and a group of business men. For a four star hotel the breakfast was poor. There was enough meat, cheese and good fresh rolls, but apart from the last day no fresh fruit or yoghurt. Eggs were cooked to order if you wanted them. The restaurant menu was seasonal, but the dessert was appalling. Something that should have been warm was still cold from the fridge. The prices were high for the standard. This also goes for the hotel. The outside is run down. The first thing on looking out from our bedroom window were 2 old white caravans. Our room was large if slightly old fashioned. It and the bathroom was clean, but the quality of the towels was poor. They were thin and frayed. Overall it is a feeling what could be. The situation of the hotel in the vineyard is lovely, but everything else leaves a lot to be desired. When we payed we were advised that the present tenants were leaving at the end of the month, the hotel closed until March and completely renovated. It needs it, but it also needs to look at the price. We have stayed at the Kallstadter Hof and only went to the Annaberg because we could not get in. The difference between the two hotels is enormous.
