For me this hotel is perfect. It has everything I need on a business trip and is situated at the same road as my business destination.
It could have some more home-feeling elements. It is now (and over the years) very straight forward and a bit "clinical".

We went to Dortmund to watch football and stayed at Tryp Hotel. The hotel have friendly staff, close to autobahn and public transport. Rooms are clean and spacious. The breakfast was solid and had everthing you want for a breakfast

1. They did not say that the parking is not FREE (8 Euros).
2. They take additional city taxes - about 8 Euros, however they should take take 7.5% of the room price.
3. WIFI does not work!!!
4. Service is awful. Hotel staff are frankly rude.

The hotel was recommended by a friend of mine teaching at the TU Dortmund. I was there with my two kids - very good service. We especially enjoyed breakfest and dinner. One can take a nice walk through campus.

Nothing special about rhis hotel but it is okay. You need a car to get there and nothing is in walking distance. Except for these restrictions the hotel is fine ans up to standard. Restaurant available.
