I booked this hotel for my cousin who is a bagpacker. The homestay is clean. I book through trip advisor and get a very good deal ranging from 4-5$ per night. The hotel is only 15minutes away from Batam center which will cost you about 60,000 to 70,000 RPB which is roughly around 6-7$ only. To avoid confusion in RPB money, just remember 1 SGD is around 10,000 RPB. The room is neat and clean with a normal single bed, TV and aicondition. However, you need to buy food like bread, coffee, noodles and ready to eat stuff as there is no minimart around the place to grab some stuff. You need to take taxi just to get to the nearest mall or walk for 20minutes to reach the first store. They only have a normal squating toilet so you might want to consider the situation before booking. Only 1 staff can understand and speak basic english so you better ask him everything. (Sometimes his reporting time is unpredictable). All in all this homestay is really not that bad.

As a backpacker, i dont really wanna spend too much money for accomodation. If i go for solo trip i prefer to find a hostel, the chepeast place for sleep and take a rest.
I found D'Kost Batam is good place for sleep and take a rest after explore Batam a whole day. Well, the room is quite small but it's worth the price we pay. I rented a single bed room for 4 days of stay, i got a small lcd tv, ac, single bed, and a table inside the room, and shared bathroom. The place is so clean also the room. This hostel is good for a backpacker, i recommend to all backpackers around the world who want to explore or visit Batam Island, find this hostel!

The homestay is clean and neat. It's difficult to find, so I advice you can ask them to pick up from the airport or batam center (pay 80k rupiah for pick up). The staff is nice but she doesn't understand english. You can rent a motorcycle there (pay 40k rupiah for rent). If you want to check out early morning please tell the staff before because ther's no one in front desk in the morning. Stay 1 night at economy twin
