Doulos Phos Hotel has great food, although limited option and a bit pricey. But the breakfast they serve has been satisfying, to say the least. Black coffee is the best! As for the hotel experience: staff and crew were very accomodating. They are always willing to help with your inquiry. Easy access to the pool, spa and lobby. You also learn about the history of the Grand Old Lady, thanks to Mae, our tour guide.

This hotel is literally a 1 minute drive from the ferry terminal. Transport to-and-fro was appears to be complimentary. Just make your request in advance. My partner and I stayed in the Deluxe Large, Sea View room over 2 nights, spanning across New Year's eve. It was truly unique experience to live on a ship converted into a hotel. The owners really did what they could to refurbish and re-purpose the cabin rooms into comfortable hotel arrangements and it didn't disappoint. The bed and pillows were exceptionally comfortable (soft and fluffy). The hotel was still in soft launch when we visited so not all rooms were let out and there seemed to be more staff than guests. Nonetheless, that was totally to our advantage as the staff were attentive, helpful and warm. The hotel also has some interesting complimentary activities. There is aqua aerobics in the infinity pool in the evening (it's real good fun and healthy); traditional fishing in the morning (test your patience); ship-hotel tour in the morning and evening (explore the captain's cabin, dis-used engine room and understand more about the history of the ship). The infinity pool has a pretty good view and if weather permits, the sunset over the pool is amazing (we caught a good sunset in 1 of our 2 nights). My partner and I also enjoyed massage services at the hotel's spa centre (by Anindya Spa). We each got a 90minute Lagoi Bay Massage and it did not disappoint. Good techniques that left the both of us wanting to give a tip (but I guess this may depend on the masseur you get). Price point for the massage was average (approximately 750,000 IDR after taxes per pax). Breakfast service is also quite good, although the fare did seem a bit slanted towards local food (fried rice, fried noodles, chicken/beef dishes). But some Western food options were also available. Being Asians, we certainly had no issues of course. The lunch/dinner menu at the hotel restaurant is quite limited. We ordered the local cuisine and the taste was spot on. Not sure if their Western food would taste as good though. Year-end countdown party was managed quite well by the hotel. Besides the buffet dinner (which had a good selection of meats), the hotel management also organised live music, fire-breathing performances, games and countdown fireworks (90seconds of fireworks to be precise). Thumbs up for their efforts and it certainly made the year-end a lively affair. Some downsides of the hotel to be objective. As the hotel is isolated in its own little isle, food options are quite limited unless you hire a driver to bring you out. That said, for a short stay (say 3d2n like what we did), I think lounging in the hotel is more than adequate as it is a pretty good place to chill with sufficient amenities. Gym is rather basic and can be improved by having barbells and a squat rack. But there were enough weights to break out a sweat. The quality of toiletries in the room could use some improvement as well. And lastly, the height of the ceiling in the ship and rooms are pretty low (I think it's only about 1.9m). This probably can't be helped as it is due to the inherent structure of the ship itself, but it's something to take note for those who are vertically blessed. Overall it's definitely a great option for anyone looking to have a short break from the hustle and bustle of Singapore city-living.

It was truly an amazing experience staying onboard a 100 year old ship. Everything from the engine rooms to the deck and bridge were old and preserved well for the charm. Rooms were tastefully renovated to suit the modern requirements. Staffs were particularly very warm and accommodating. They took special care with birthday greetings and decorations and even had a birthday song band. I would have given 5 stars if not for the food in their restaurant. It was heavily priced but quality of 2 star. Very disappointing as you have to travel almost an hour to go to city to find decent food. otherwise from their infinity pool to their aquaarobat and fishing experiences were truly perfect in every way. Would surely recommend this place for a one of a kind experience. Particularly thanks to Githa for taking special care of us. Will return for more one day.

My partner & I had a wonderful 3 days 2 night staycation in this unique hotel this week. With the coronavirus going on, we were contemplating if we should postpone the stay but were glad that we went ahead with it. Health screening at various checkpoints and the guarded gantry to the hotel gave us some assurance that we are relatively safe. The ferry terminal to the hotel is like a 3 mins shuttle which was provided by the hotel. The view of the ship as we approaches is pretty amazing. The staff are friendly from the moment we are at the premises. We booked a sea facing suite which is pretty basic yet comfy. A bathtub would be a nice addition as the shower area/toilet is really big. The view from the balcony is really nice especially in the mornings and evenings, there is even a small island with a lighthouse. From the infinity pool you can witness stunning sunset that's really Instagram worthy. I was told that the hotel had quite a few cancellations which kinda explain the limited menu at the restaurant. The restaurant is the only place where one can have meals at within the premises otherwise the hotel can arrange for taxi to the nearby local town (10 mins) or restaurants that's about an hour away. The pricing of the restaurant is a bit pricey tho. I would recommend the place to my friends for now. Hope that the place can be well maintained till the next time when I visit again.
