We were going to stay two nights and extended to 3 because this place was so delightful and welcoming. Located in the heart of quiet little Sidemen, each room is its own little cabin with veranda, where you can eat meals including the breakfast included with the room. Each cabin has a lovely view of the surrounding fruit plants, some of which will provide your juice and fruit salad for breakfast. There is a small pool, which is great at the end of a sweaty day walking in the rice fields. And the best part is that the staff are so friendly, welcoming and helpful. They arranged for transport for a day to surrounding villages and puras of our choosing, and another day they arranged for a guide to trek through the rice fields (you can walk right from the homestay, but we found that walking with a guide was much better than trying to figure out where to go ourselves, and he was nice and informative, too). We splurged for the most expensive cabin with the nicest view, $35/night. This is the most luxurious place we have stayed in Indonesia, and the price seems very low compared to others. All rooms have mosquito nets and ceiling fans and hot water; there was no need for air conditioning in November. We highly recommend this homestay.

Had a good stay in Sidemen at Krishna Homestay as the staff was very friendly, close to restaurants and good value for money. However I gave my honest opinion in another review on a different website and said the breakfast was not the best (cold pancakes) and wondered whether the mosquito net was for decoration as it did not fit around the bed or could not be properly closed. Instead of responding to my review they messaged me in private - see photo. Such a shame because I did like my stay! Still rated it a 7.9 which is a good grade. Honesty apparently is not appreciated and I will not be returning for sure.

Stayed 2 days, chose this homestay after looking at several other places nearby. Paid 250,000 IDR bed and breakfast. Nice garden setting and a lovely swimming pool to cool off after long walks in the beautiful countryside. My room was a simple bungalow with a little terrace. Attached bathroom with hot water shower. Bed firm with mosquito net. A small fan but note it gets very cool at night and I had to request another blanket. It was comfortable enough for me. Breakfast was the usual eggs or banana pancakes and fruit. Nothing to rave about and I did not eat any other meals here. There are more upmarket places to stay and tourist restaurants about 15 minutes walking but I found these to be quite expensive. Few local warungs. There is a daily market up on the main road to buy fruit and snacks. The only downside to staying here is that there are no views of Gunung Agung volcano. I was given a rough map and did a 3 hour walk through paddy field and villages and got glimpses of the volcano in the clouds. It usually cleared late afternoon to get best views. Sidemen is peaceful and scenic but becoming more popular as mostly French and Dutch tourists do a loop from Amed to Sidemen and onto Ubud. Getting there is difficult without paying a lot for private taxi or having own transport. I gave up waiting for the morning bemo to Klungklung and managed to hitch a lift to get out. Can recommend Krishna homestay.
