Morotai Camp Hostel

Firstly difficult to find the place. No marking or direction on the lane. Area is good a residential thats it. The moment you enter you are greeted with dirt filth,smoke,bottles etc.I could see people sleeping next to the reception on the floor on the sofa couch whatever.People were nice no doubt there it ends rest everything is pathetic.Dirty dinning area kitchen.Pile of cloths lying everywhere. The AC in the room hardly works . Creekiest of the bunk bed ever slept. Once while i was climbing up the entire bed tilted one side almost about to fall.It keeps on shaking made of wrought iron.The bathroom is pathetic smelly dirty and human hair strewn all over. The door makes hell of a sound as u open and close.Please go if that is the last resort and u are completely broken.

The staff are friendly and helpful and there’s a good vibe amongst guests and staff. But the staff do lay about smoking in the reception area all day. The room is very small and had 4 beds (2 bunks) within touching distance. No air-con and a rubbish fan. The bathroom is not that great and needs a good clean. Good for a night, maybe 2. I left luggage there for 2 weeks whilst I went around the island on a scooter. Their scooters are a little highly priced but can be got cheaper for longer rentals. Some bikes are older and need work but they also have brand new bikes which are slightly higher priced to rent. BUT at only 40,000....it is very cheap!

This hostel has fantastic staff who are like a family and socialise with us travellers!! There is a kitchen with a gas hob and toaster and a fridge that can be used too!! Free tea and coffee available to at just 40000IRupiah a night!! Beds are very comfy and you can choose a fan or AC in your room! A fan is fine in the 31c heat I find!! Very lucky find!! The people here are also fantastic and we have had great fun together! Staff couldn’t be more nice or helpful!! 😊👍

The pictures are not real. I mean it is not that pretty at all. It is not clean. The kitchen smells very bad and is a mess. And everyone smokes in everywhere. There are people (the owners and/or the employes) sleeping on the common areas, it is very unconfortable because you cant use it. The bathroom is not good at all... the shower is broken, and is wet all the time. And one last thing: the motorbikes that they rent you are in a very bad cobdition! 60k. Rent in another place if you want a safe trip.

The staff are mega friendly and there’s a good atmosphere amongst the people staying there but it’s sooo dirty. The bedroom is fine (although no aircon in the private room and the fan is rubbish), but the bathroom is so grim that you had to hop about not touching anything. So much grime everywhere and I’m not a fussy person so it really was bad! Glad we only stayed for one night and I managed to avoid showering, feel like I would’ve ended up dirtier than when I started
