DIVA Homestay is a nice homestay with only 2 beach huts, but … add a million IDR ! The location is really nice and the reef drop off in front of the beach bungalow is wonderful. Good tree on the beach for hammocks but bring your own ! NO kayaks for rent. Food is very tasty and we enjoyed the dining shelter on the beach very much. Private bathroom is nicely done, western toilet and paper (!) included but no shower though (mandi). Walking distance to the 2 villages, it’s nice to have a walk from time to time and locals are very friendly. However, the negative part is that the family of this homestay does NOT respect the prices for the TOURS & TFT published on the Raja Ampat website nor on their own website ! They just ADD A MILLION IDR on whatever it suits them ! Bird Watching was 300′ IDR PP (by boat) and not 200' IDR PP , Tour of the Passage & Hidden Bay (very beautiful !!) : owner asked 3 mio IDR / boat !! We finally agreed on 2 mio IDR / boat (this price is published on their own website and I had the copies with me as there is NO WIFI to check) and for transfer to Birie Island (Batanta) the owner wanted 2,5 MIO IDR / boat. Lucikly I had a written confirmation of the normal price at 1,5 MIO IDR. So, please agree on the prices before leaving and bring written conf. with you !! We almost felt like cheated and believe us, you do not need this after 4 days of travelling from Europe to RA !! Another really important advise : please do NOT BOOK this homestay via the worldwide accommodation providers as these bookings are serviced by an agent and actually it is the agent who DECIDES where you are staying, without informing the tourists. We were taking to another island and thus another homestay. We ended up at Fam Island !! A very expensive boat trip later, and 1 day lost of our week in RA we finally got to DIVA HS …. Whatever island or homestay you choose in Raja Ampat, PLEASE BOOK your stay via the very friendly and extremely helpful OFFICIAL site Stay Raja Ampat. They contact the owners directly and they will make sure that your booking is confirmed.
Also, please note : none of the longboats carry any life jackets !
Best regards, Nancy
