I was sceptical as I am of eco places, but as soon as we got there this was put to rest. First and foremost Kim and Aimone care about this place and it shows. They are around to help as are their kids and dogs, and it really felt like a family atmosphere.
The view is amazing, it reminded me of Africa. A negative could be that it isn't right on the beach. but that meant that the beach days were long and you returned satiated to the amazing view and infinity pool - having planned a long day out. The day trips to the islands were amazing, which they organised, and Kim came on, as was the mangrove tour. And visiting the nearby lake was really worth it. Visit / eat at Boa Vida, which is also really amazing. I would stay there too.
The food in general in Rote isn't that good, but these guys have done really well their food was better than any other place we ate, and we ate in many.
Some people may not like the sawdust eco toilets, or lack of AC but it was good. There were no mosquitoes when we were there. Pillow wasn't the softest on night 1 but we asked for a replacement which was fine.
I can't remember a holiday where I stayed in a better place. Really personal and authentic and amazing. The Pride rock suite is the best of their rooms. We were in the Barn which was I think the second best.
