My first impression about this place was: an intim & quite place. I love the mini pool, and the balcon at the 2nd floor.

Vill Ibu is the complex, however the villas are split into 4 separate apartments which can be purchased separately or together depending on how many rooms you need. The villas on the right as you enter through the front gates are (ground floor) villa Makula, (upstairs) villa Sahadewa, which are stunning. They are clean comfortable, well-appointed and spacious and we would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone, as they are fabulous value for money. The villas are separated by beautiful gardens that have been carefully planted in such a way that you have total privacy at all times. The small pool is a share pool, but we didn't find that a problem. The views over the rice fields from both upstairs apartments are breathtaking, especially at sunset. Do take the insect repellent though as the mosquito's are in plague proportions at that time of the evening. During the day there is a bit of traffic noise from the villagers, but at night it is blissfully quiet. The only sounds we heard were the sound of frogs, geckos and the rain on the roof! The description of the complex says that "there are 2 almost identical villas" however the villas on the left as you enter are tired and desperately in need of an upgrade (which Wayan says is on the agenda just as soon as there is a free period). These are the 2 apartments we stayed in for 8 nights in July 2017 (ground floor villa Bima, upstairs villa Arjuna). The downstairs room smells musty and damp which we worked out was a leak from the upstairs bathroom. The showers over the bathtub are hand held, which means the bathrooms get soaked every time someone has a shower, which may be adding to the damp smell? We were given dooners (duvets) with no covers and upstairs our elderly traveling companion was given the cover with no dooner, although this was rectified after it was brought to their attention. Breakfast was OK, however not remotely like the pictures or other reviewers descriptions. Having said all that, the staff are all really helpful and accommodating and go out of their way to make your stay a pleasant one. If you want to book a day trip, Wayan will drive you. At 800,000IR a day, his fees are a little more expensive than most drivers in Bali charge, but on the plus side, he is extremely knowledgeable and his English is fabulous. Ketut is hilarious and will keep you entertained for hours with his stories; he will also take you into town on the back of his motorbike for supplies (costs about 50,000IR) or up to the local Warung for a fabulous (and cheap) feed of Nasi Campur or Mi Goreng. We booked Ketut and Wayan to drive us around the nearby villages and rice paddies for a couple of hours and they took us up to a stunning little hill top restaurant for coffee. We highly recommend you do this at least once; the scenery is breathtaking and the countryside gives you a real sense of cultural life in Bali. Wifi is patchy at Ibu, so if you are trying to conduct business from the villa it may be a little difficult? If you are confident enough to drive in Bali, It is probably best to hire a motorbike or car (Wayan can arrange this) as it is too far to walk into town. However don’t let the remoteness put you off, as it is part of villa Ibu’s charm.

We had a great 5 days in UBUD and Villa IBU was a great place to call home. Our hosts could not do enough for us and the Villa was very comfortable. The location is reasonably close to UBUD town but a car or scooter is necessary to get there. We were a family of five and the Villa with its pool and wide open spaces was perfect for us. Our host Wayan was very accommodating when it came to local day trips and he was a valuable source of information about all things UBUD and Bali. Wayan was very flexible when it came to travel times and destinations and took control so that we could sit back and enjoy our trips. We will be back!!!

At Villa Ibu the charm of Bali enfolds you as soon as you step over the threshhold, its like stepping into an alternative universe. During our stay we became part of the Villa Ibu family and lost all sense of time passing, twelve days felt like two months of sinking deeper and deeper into relaxation. The two young teenagers extended their explorations from the warung opposite to wandering down to the village, the neighbours greeting them with their warm smiles and the kids trying out their spattering of Indonesian. We were spoilt by Nyoman and Gede and nothing was too much trouble. The girls adored getting lifts with Gede on his scooter down into Ubud, such a thrill, especially in the pouring rain, sorry Gede! Wayan is a supreme organiser and with great sang froid smilingly dealt with any of our requests. We will be making an annual pilgrimage to this heavenly place to reconnect with lovely friends, I feel very blessed to have had such a beautiful experience. P.s. I loved sinking into a lovely bath of steaming hot water and walking the path through the sawah towards Ubud.

Beautiful cozy villa just few kilometers outside of Ubud. I stayed there couple of weeks and felt like home. + outside Ubud (7-10min drive), beautiful road through small villages and past temples and rice paddies + small villa, as it has only 4 rooms + green, tropical garden and nice pool to cool down + specious room and a lovely bathroom (I stayed in ground floor studio/apartment "Bima" what has a private terrace and a kitchen + clean and well taken care of. As the humidity is always very high in central Bali then it is a challenge to find a place what doesn't have a mold or this specific smell. I saw all their rooms durning my stay and luckily they all are mold free. + as far as I know it has gone through the renovation and has a new management, so everything was well organised and smooth.
