After reading many of the reviews for Casa Selita, we were somewhat disappointed in our overall stay.
PROS: 1) Selita is a charming hostess who speaks great English and endeavors to be most helpful. 2) The location is quite excellent for those wishing to spend several days in Orvieto or to make day trips to southern Tuscany or Umbria and is less than 2 hours drive from the Rome airport. 4) It was just a 10 minute walk from the B & B into Orvieto but the B & B was outside the city walls.
CONS: 1) Most B & B''s we have visited throughout Europe offer you something to drink and light snacks when arriving and many have non-alcoholic drinks and some fruit or snacks available when you return in the afternoon or evening. 2) The breakfast was somewhat spartan. Yes, there was bread with jams, cereal, yoghurt, some proscuitto and cheese as well as some bakery cake or sweet bread, but no eggs or omelettes or fresh fruit to speak of. Servings were on the "petite" side. 3) The bed was a mattress on slats with no box springs and provided adequate but not great support. 4) The room was spartan as were the services of "cleaning" the room and bath.
Overall, I would rate the experience at 3.5 - 4 out of 5.
