Yes, for proximity to the heart of Venice it's great. The room was clean and tiny, the bathroom was clean and tiny. There's no maintenance: in no particular order the TV went on but wouldn't go off, no bathroom plug, tap not rooted to the basin, coat hook falling off, shower head support had sheared off. Sister hotel opposite (Mondiale) not any better judging by the scene we witnessed at reception when leaving our bags. A euro to lodge a case for a few hours?! That has to be a first. You're close to a fab live entertainment bar here, a real surprise within a multi-national community with a heart. And there's a couple of small supermarkets too. Breakfast edible and plenty. Go if you're on a budget and because the air con works, if nothing else.

We arrived about 12PM, before check-in time, but the front door was open. No one at desk and lobby empty. The maid appeared and only spoke Italian, indicating that the check-in was at 3pm. We and 2 other ladies, who had just arrived were trying to communicate to her that we should at least leave our bags in storage. She then called someone, and another woman arrived from the hotel across the street. She was speaking in Italian, and all I understood was "partir" and POLICIA! I didn't need a dictionary to understand that she threatened to call the Police if we did not leave! Then she said in perfect English, "If you don't respect the rules, I have to call the police. You cannot stay in the lobby". We didn't expect to stay in the lobby for 3 hours, just wanted to store our bags until check-in. She finally “generously" allowed us to leave the bags at the opposite hotel (4 Euros) and come back later to check in. A waste of a day. Checking out, the clerk didn't even look up from his desk, but Grunted when we dropped off the keys. Every hotel on our extensive trips to Europe has either allowed us to check in as much as 3 hours early as the rooms were readied, or, allowed us to store our bags..FOR FREE! So check the reviews. So,If you want a pretty crummy hotel, that offers NO service, and is willing to waste your whole day, then treat you like a piece of dirt upon leaving, then the City of Art Venice Lloyd hotel is for you, unless you like losing time and money, then go elsewhere!

Venice was full up during peak summer and frankly unaffordable too, so we had to settle in for staying at Marghera, a bus ride away from Venice. First the pluses - This Hotel has a great location vis-à-vis its proximity to the Mestre train station. Its an easy walk after exiting the underpass at the station. Lugging your suitcase to the hotel takes about 5 minutes from the station. The rooms are basic, but clean and the person at the reception counter is the easiest/ friendliest chap who helps copiously with information about the neighbourhood etc etc. Now the minuses - Do not expect any room service, even though the reception guy will help you with anything starting from the malfunctioning lock on the door to getting the safe fixed. However, housekeeping services are largely unavailable and our bed linen was not changed any of the two days we stayed. The hotel opens its doors only after 2 PM so in case you arrive on an earlier train, you have to wait in front of the hotel or the side alley. The hotel in front lets you keep your luggage till opening time for a fee though and you could wait in their lobby too. The breakfast spread is a sorry excuse with a rather rude waitress who keeps a firm eye on patrons whisking away a muffin or two !! The neighbourhood of Marghera is extremely desolate and walking back a few blocks after the bus drops you (near the fountain) back from Venice can be quite unnerving ! A red tram goes by right in front of the hotel so you might want to check with routes so you get dropped off right in front of the hotel. The bathroom is the tiniest I have seen in all my travels and is definitely uncomfortable for the not-so-slim patrons. The hotel lobby is a little strange with marble statues finding pride of place here. Overall, for the price we paid, and its proximity to Mestre, this hotel is a good deal especially for students and those on a tight budget!

We booked a room here for one night as we had a very early train to catch the next morning and arrived late at night. I booked the room via Expedia and later emailed the hotel to let them know we would be arriving after 10pm due to flight delays, which they said was no problem. When we arrived we were told we had no booking and that they didn’t have a room for us and had nothing to do with Expedia. The man at the front desk just kept shrugging at my confirmation email and said he didn’t care that I’d paid and that we couldn’t stay at his hotel. He was extremely rude and aggressive. He ended up leading us to a dingy squat of a hotel across the road and telling us to stay there. The rooms here were so vile we would have been better off staying on the street; the walls are covered in blood from squashed mosquitoes and the floor was absolutely filthy (not the mention the vile smell). We didn’t want to use the filthy and ancient bathroom and could not sleep as this is a dangerous area and the hotel felt so dodgy!! After reading other reviews this must be a scam they pull often, forcing guests who book in their hotel to stay in the repulsive squat across the road (as I can’t imagine anyone would willingly stay in such appalling conditions). Avoid this place like the absolute plague (since I think there’s a pretty high risk of getting the plague of you stay here!)

The price we pay for the room is very cheap compared to the prices we found in Venice. for a room for three persons is a very good price. the hotel is a bit old but for sleep and shower is more than enough.
