They always treat me so well at the Garden Hotel in Terni, where Saint Valentine made his legacy. I welcome any reason to visit Terni in Umbria, whether to climb to the top of Cascate di Marmore, learn about the true origins of Valentimìne's Day, or dine in one of the great restaurants there, but there's nothing like coming home to the welcoming comfort of the Garden Hotel, with its striking modernist yet warm architecture, delicious restaurant, supremely comfortable rooms with good hard pillows and great water pressure in the showers. They've also adopted some wild cats, which often greet you between the cypress tree laden parking lot and the front entrance. The food is so good, great service and the glamorous mother of the owner often will charm you in the restaurant. Great atmosphere, great food, total comfort and you're in the home town of St Valentine. A perfect romantic combination.
