My partner and I don't usually seek luxury, however we decided to find somewhere a little more special than the hotels and B&B's that our budget usually allows. With Garni Maso San Michele, we were presented with more than we could have expected.
We arrived in the authentic Italian alpine village in which the Hotel is located to be pleasantly greeted by the owners; an immensely welcoming family. We were invited in and presented with orange juice and biscuits and given chance to relax before being shown to our room. Since it was Easter, there were miniature Lindt chocolate eggs and very tasteful easter decorations peppered around the foyer; a small but impressive touch. This was the theme throughout. The impressive pine decorations and tasteful alpine artwork spread throughout the hotel, including into the bedroom. In the basement we were given access, despite being the only guests at the time, to use the 'Wellness Suite' which was impressively clean. Another memorable touch was being given a list of local restaurants and their contact details and a recommendation based on our tastes. The owners clearly had our comfort and needs at the top of their list which can often be neglected in this industry.
Breakfast deserves an individual mention. It was plentiful and faultless, with delicious homemade jam's, breads and cake; jars of granola, berries and nuts and the option to have perfectly cooked eggs and bacon. That with the selection of meats, cheese and pastry made for a perfect start to a day in the mountains. The coffee was the finest we had during our stay in Italy.
Overall, I can't recommend this place highly enough. The welcoming nature of Edoardo and his family to the quality and cleanliness of the facilities and the delicious breakfast. Our only regret is that we didn't stay here longer. We would love to return and experience the area in the winter months.
