In Riva del Garda we stayed in the Hotel Rudy. This is a well-run and well-maintained hotel. It has a lift and free on-site parking. We had a nice, comfortable room with a good bathroom and a minute ('Juliet') balcony. I later found that my sister's room had a full balcony for the same price. There is busy road in front that was noisy in the day but not at night. The rear rooms have a much better view, but are more expensive. There was an extensive breakfast included. The staff on reception have only limited English and this is typical around Riva where most tourists seem to be German, Austrian or Swiss.
There is a bus stop right outside the hotel but the service is very limited. As far as I could work out, the last bus from Riva is at around 4 pm - not very useful if you want to have dinner in town. Cruising taxis seem to be non-existant.
One negative about the room was that there was a single available power point in the bathroom and none at all in the bedroom. Now that almost everyone has phones and/or cameras that constantly need recharging, this seems ridiculous. Maybe this wouldn't matter to you but for me it was a serious nuisance.
