Friends stayed here a year ago and waxed on about it so much that six of us have now separately gone to see what all the fuss is about - and it is worth every bit of the praise we have heard. Not only is the location full of beauty, charm and rest; the accommodations are clean, comfortable and provide public and private space for guests; the staff are welcoming and helpful and assured us to "make ourselves at home" - but the highlight is the community that Giampiero creates at his family-style dinners. We dined with Ecuadorians, Swedes, Italians, Canadians, English and a Scot (thank goodness they all spoke English!!!) alongside other Americans. We gathered before dinner for drinks in the living room, we ate, we sang, we celebrated a birthday, we became, for a couple of days, a family of fellow travelers who had genuine care for one another. Part of it is the bond that often happens over shared food (and this is DELICIOUS, local, artfully prepared food) but much of it is due to our host's natural host-like nature. We will return and bring others with us, this is a treasure not to be missed.
