We spent a few days here before our wedding at another hotel nearby. This proved to be the perfect spot for a bit of R&R before the wedding mayhem began! We were well looked after and upgraded to their best room with a private balcony and plenty of space to practise our first dance! The staff went out of their way to help us with last minute emergencies! The building itself has lots of history and is beautifully designed with comfort and luxury in mind and the spa was the perfect way to unwind. Definitely recommend!

OK, 2 nites and almost as much as 4 days in Rome! First off the hotel is a wonderful reconstruction of the old nunnery. Grounds and buildings are well laid out and beautiful. Rooms are minimalistic. Some improvements, a chair in the room you can actually sit in. The was a chair, but it was more of an art piece. Secondly, A place to put your open luggage while you are in the room . There was one poorly designed luggage rack which didn't do a good job of holding a 24 inch luggage piece. Most travelers to this type of hotel [ this isn't a hostel] travel as a couple. So, 2 luggage racks would be nice. Breakfast was well done and very good. The provide a welcoming drink on arrival and that is very much appreciated. The views from the room are picturesque. We didn't use the spa so can't comment on this. Staff is helpful. You are right across the parking lot from the local bus stop which has stops at the Basilica of St. Francis and the Assisi train station. The Nun is on one of the highest hills in Assisi. That means most of the sites are down hill, but of course uphill when you want to return. But there are taxis at the bus stop right outside the town walls near the basilica.

I come here very often, because I living near by Assisi. Relaxing in this place make my day perfect, especially after meetings or only for looking inside. I highly recommend the wellness zone with or without massage ;)

If you're in Assisi and have a few hours to relax, a visit to the Nun Spa is a wonderful way to unwind! Just finished my third visit, complete with a massage and hour in the Nun Circuit. Your massage will involve less clothing and more (appropriate and completely professional) hands-on contact than you may be used to in the US, but if you can set aside your Puritan tendencies, you're in for a world-class treat. Daphne at Reception speaks beautiful English, if you need it, and the spa also sells bathing suits if yours stayed home. Highly recommend this unique, luxurious experience.

Wow! We really were fortunate to have mostly incredible hotels on our Italy trip. Some of our hotels, like this one, made us want to take a trip right back to Italy again, just for the sake of visiting the hotels. This was one of the best. The Hotel Relais Nun is a former convent, from I think the 12th century. Our room was beautiful. One curiosity about the room was the tiny windows, just over a foot square each. But if you want a view, all we needed to do was walk upstairs to our own private terrace (I think it was room 11), from which we got these spectacular views you see in my pictures. We spent more than one happy hour just lazing around up there, reading and relaxing. The hotel seems to have an excellent restaurant, but sadly, we didn't have time to partake, since we wanted to go around town and have some of the local boar-ragu pasta, truffles and pasta, and the like. But oh, those local restaurants! We asked the front desk for advice, and boy, did they send us to a winner. The Taverna dei Consoli, which was among their recommendations, was so memorable. And in fact, the front desk was unfailingly energetic and helpful, whenever we needed anything. They called for reservations for us, coordinated spa treatments, gave us directions, all sorts of things, all with a smile. They are very nice people. And that spa! Oh my gosh. That had us gobsmacked. It goes back even further than the hotel itself, and was a bath during the Roman days, a good 1900 years ago. A lot of the original stonework is still there. The spa has wonderful massage treatments, which we enjoyed; their masseuses were also very kind. Before that, we enjoyed the big swimming pool indoors, among the old Roman arches. And after the pool, we went into the sauna course. In a nod to Roman traditions, they had a "tepidarium" (a lukewarm room), a "caldarium" (a hot sauna), a "sudatorium" (an INCREDIBLY hot sauna), and a "frigidarium" (a cooling room). The gradual increase in temperatures made it possible to bear the very hot room once we got there. The hourglass sand tends to clump up inside the hourglasses in the room, because of the heat and humidity, but we did a good job of gauging how long we'd been in each one. I recommend following their advice for how long to stay in each one (they advise between 5 and 10 minutes for one, 15 and 20 for another, etc.), because giving it a good long time made it a really meditative experience for us. After my sauna course, I had another dip in the pool, just reflecting on nothing but feelings of gratitude for this experience. What an incredible spa! We hope to return.
