Had been looking forward to visiting this hotel due to its very good ratings and beautiful roof terrace which is displayed as the main attraction. On arrival, we experienced a rather indifferent demand to see our passports and credit card, rather than being greeted with a warm welcome. My travel companion was almost pushed by the bell boy in order for her to stand in front of the temperature scanner, which was most inappropriate. After passing this, we were informed by the less than customer service-minded receptionist Silvia that due to COVID-19 serving drinks on the roof terrace had been cancelled (apparently based on the logic that consumption of alcohol leads directly to contracting COVID-19), leaving us with the impression that it was somewhat inappropriate for us to go there. After hearing Silvia reeling off all the COVID-19 precautions, we went to our room. Hoping to get a Coca-Cola after the long travel, I looked in the mini-bar to find only mineral water. Asking the bell boy if it was possible to get a Coca-Cola I was met with the response "No, not possible due to COVID"?? , which doesn't make any sense.
In all fairness our room was spacious with good aircondition and high quality bathroom facilities, but we couldn't forget the unfriendly reception and feeling of being a nuisance to the staff. We do want to emphasize that the receptionist Federica was very courteous and service-minded, which is to be commended. Needless to say, we won't be returning to this hotel.
