We had the good fortune to spend two idyllic, relaxing weeks at Borgo San Pietro. A former monastery, which has been entirely renovated with loving care and great attention to detail by the owner, Stefano Magini, SPAO is a magical place: 12th century stone houses and former church (now the courtyard is the site for morning breakfast), well-tended lavender frequented by swarms of beautiful butterflies, a magnificent view across the valley of Umbrian towns and villages, and an emerald green water swimming pool.
Anastasia and Stefano provide a very personal welcome and are always on hand if you need anything! Ed, the border collie, is an added treat (along with their one year old daughter Claudia!!). They have a vegetable and herb garden of which they are justifiably proud; the sound of their chickens greet you during breakfast time. Speaking of breakfast, it is included in the price and it was an added joy to be greeted each morning by smiling Anna who served us our breakfast and daily cappuccino.
SPAO is off the beaten path, a respite from the hordes of summer tourists. We made many visits to beautiful Umbrian towns and villages and then looked forward to returning to San Pietro to relax and recharge!
Grazie mille, Stefano e Anastasia!
