Location is decent; 10min walk from Rendaiji station and a 45min stroll to Shimoda. Hotel itself is old but rooms were decently maintained, apart from the shower which I wouldn't recommend using. The place itself is big with many winding corridors, most of which are humid and damp. Staff was friendly, and provided us with umbrellas to use when it was raining. We returned after 10pm and they seemed to be fine with that, after which we used the onsen till about 10:30. The place is due for a renovation but for the reasonable price during high season (august), it's a satisfactory place to stay.

My family and i had a great day at the beach but when we get to this hotel they destroy all the good moments the staff is very rude they make us feel like trash and they welcome us with no respect and when we ask for apology they dont want to apologize and told us to forget about what happen and they dont allow us to take pictures and video and the hotel close at 9pm so we have to get hurry back after we have dinner outside but all the restaurant are far from the hotel that was the worst hotel i've ever been!!!

We booked this hotel last minute for short break for Oban week as can not able to book else where (Mistake!!). All facilities, rooms, and equipment are pretty old (You can still see VHS player and VHS tape for 100 Yen). Onsen is very old as well and sauna is for one person only (must be very old design). If you love antique this hotel offer lot of vintage stuff. Hotel staff told us to be back by 9:30pm as that is closing time, which is still early. While all facilities are still functioning, it look dirty and such need major renovation soon to restore.

A place with such potential shouldn't be neglected in this way. From the exterior there's an overall good impression, Ancient Japanese Architecture, wood structure that cracks under your steps and a charming garden outside at the entrance. However all those positive notes starts to drop down with the reception from the person in charge, grumpy because we arrived after 10 pm ( not specied when the reservation was made). Then after apologizing in the best imaginable way, including in Japanese, we put a pair of slipperies and I discover a few steps after that something was crawling out of them, of course, insects got stucked there before I wear them. Then the guy takes us thru a tunnel, you can see some personalities signed up photos and posters on the walls, but ok, let's give this a break, old hotels always have posters and images from gold ages... However this place actually looks like it stood the way it was for at least 30 years, with no refreshing whatsoever apparently, stained and scratched wall paper, washed out and smelly carpet. After this " Time travel " experience, we discovered the Tatami room, that actually could have been cool if it wasn't for the intense white neon light and humidity smell coming from all over the place and specially from the bathroom, not to mention the " shower " room, definitely, not an invitation to take a nice relaxing shower. There was air-conditioning, a very noisy fridge, flat screen with an old 100 yen priced vhs videoplayer ( charming vintage ), Tea pot and water in a rusted thermos, The mattress pillows and bed sheet had an enclosed moldy smell. We were escaping this place as fast as sun rised, and we discovered that we had a nice pond outside with dense vegetation, this place was probably great many, many, many years ago. Of course this general annoyment could have been reduced if it wasn't for the price Soooo expensive for it !!!. By the way, there's an Onsen at this place. We didn't even bothered to try it. It's sad to see such beautiful places and heritage neglected like this. This place may have and still could be an incredible spot.
