We stayed at the Ritz pre-COVID and had a spectacular experience. The rooms were elegant, quiet, exuded understated luxury and even the basic room was shockingly large considering room sizes in other high-cost cities; all views are spectacular given the location at the top of a high rise; the hotel facilities (pool, spa, gym, restaurants, lobby bar) were uniformly excellent; and we loved the location in Roppongi Hills with lots in the immediate area and easy connections to the whole city. We loved experiencing Tokyo in all its energy and bustle and then returning to this island of calm and elegance.
Our only constructive feedback would be (1) concierge service was a bit uneven - Som was outstanding and a highlight of our trip, but some others were a bit less helpful with their suggestions at times; and (2) we only found out at check-in that we would be unable to use the club lounge due to foreign dignitaries staying for the Emperor's robing ceremony -- understandable, but we should have been notified in advance as we might have changed to a regular room given the loss of use of the club lounge.
In sum, this hotel is a standout among urban hotels we have stayed in around the world and we can't wait to return.
