This year has not been a happy one for either of us, as a result of Covid- and non-Covid issues, added to the uncertainty as to whether we were going to be allowed to undertake this short trip at all. Ultimately all was well and we enjoyed a first-class overall experience in the care of some outstanding staff in an unusual heatwave. The hotel is beautiful, situated half way up a very steep incline, which made access difficult unless one knows the most efficient route to get there. This is maybe one thing which the hotel might care to address when welcoming first-time visitors arriving by hire car. Otherwise everything was beautiful. Our room on the third floor and overlooking the very pleasant (and welcome in view of the weather) swimming pool and sunbathing area gave us a breathlessly-panoramic view of the South of the island. It was nice to find a hotel shower that was efficient and relaxing to work! The staff were super-efficient in spite of the extreme heat and were cheerful and obliging at all times. The room was hot, as was to be expected, and the hotel had run out of fans. However, the young lady at reception willingly gave up her own fan so that we would be more comfortable, which really went way beyond the call of duty. We will be forever grateful to her. We ate dinner twice at the hotel, choosing from a wide range of excellent dishes, including some succulent lobster on our last night. We had been to the island many years ago, and it was fantastic to revisit some of the beautiful places and attractions which this beautiful island has to offer. It is certainly our intention to return sooner rather than later.
