My wife and me visited the hotel for three nights in august 2009.I hope this hotel will find a rapid solution for the improvement of the kitchenstaff amd restaurantstaff. Logistics and a pro-active approach of the guests and foodpreparation are the keywords. We were told to be in the restaurant sharp at a specific time and both times we had to wait for about half an hour for our dinner and breakfast. We had to sit in an ice-cold diningroom. It was winter and the place was not heated although there was a gasheater in the dinningroom. It was something like 10 degrees celcius inside and when the dinner (plateservice) came everything was cold. Yes, a cold steak, cold french fries and cold veggies. Wine was not available as well as beer. The choice was limonade or water.
Breakfast was also a disaster.
We knocked on the door of the kitchen to tell them that we were there and ready for our breakfast. The chef at that moment was busy to fry some eggs. After 5 minutes the waitress came out to ask us how we wanted our eggs done.
Both of us asked for scrambled eggs. After 30 minutes we got our breakfast and guess how the eggs were done. Fried and cold. It seems it must be the same eggs the chef was busy with when we entered the place half an hour before.
Both times we were the only guests. I wonder what will happen if there are more guests waiting for their meals.
Food and beds should be the most important aspects of a hotel. I am sorry to say but the kitchen made a mess out of it. There is only one chance for a first impression. They blew it. The rest of the days we have avoided the restaurant.
The hotel has no own bookingsite and no internet for guests. The tv channels are too poor for international guests. Just three local stations. A weatherchannel, CNN and Euronews would
be very much appreciated.
Outside the place is covered with bird-droppings and during the evening and night the birds take over the place and create a lot of noise on the roof of he upper rooms. Our room had a fridge that was not working for a day, the lamps besides our bed did not fit into the socket, the toiletpaper had no holder and the toiletseat was covered with a filthy white deposit (who would
feel comfortable?), there was no extra key for our room and since we took with us the result was the beds were not done that day after our return.
The conditions of the painting of the doors, cupboards and walls are terrible and the furniture is old fashioned. There is an enormous lot to be improved inside and outside. The hotel is going downhill as it is now.
A shouting noisy radio in the receptiondesk-area is not very welcoming. Some soft easy listening jazzy music would be much better.
The price was agreed upon before arrival (written confirmation). Suddenly they wanted about 25% more although we made a reservation for another price.
The ladies from the receptiondesk are very nice and friendly and try to give you the feeling that you are most welcome . That is the only positive aspect next to the fact the place is guarded and due to that the carparking is very safe.
So far for 4 -star hotel. Can you imagine? 4 stars?! I wonder who has given those stars and how the hotel was assessed? I would not recommend this place to anyone under the circumstances we have experienced. Sorry to say so. But it is like it is. Peter Quint, the Netherlands.
